Join us for Sunday service at 11:00 A.M. as we welcome back to the pulpit the Reverend Scott Morschauser. Our wonderful choir will be performing, accompanied by our guest organist Drew Palmentieri. Sing along to the following hymns that Rev. Morschauser selected:

Hymn 331 – “God of the Ages, Whose Almighty Hand”
God of the ages, whose almighty hand leads forth in beauty all the starry band of shining worlds in splendor through the skies, our grateful songs before thy throne arise.
Thy love divine hath led us in the past. In this free land by thee our lot is cast. Be thou our ruler, guardian, guide, and stay: thy word our law, thy paths our chosen way.
From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence, be thy strong arm our ever sure defense. Thy true religion in our hearts increase. Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace.
Refresh thy people on their toilsome way. Lead us from night to never-ending day. Fill all our lives with love and grace divine, and glory, laud, and praise be ever thine.

Hymn 463 – “How Firm a Foundation”
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in God’s excellent Word! What more can be said than to you God hath said, to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
“Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed, for I am thy God, and will still give thee aid; I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.”
“When through the deep waters I call thee to go, the rivers of sorrow shall not overflow; for I will be near thee, thy troubles to bless, and sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.”
“When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, my grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply; the flame shall not hurt thee; I only design thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.”
“The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose, I will not, I will not desert to its foes; that soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I’ll never, no, never, no, never forsake.”

Hymn 321 – “The Church’s One Foundation”
The church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord. She is his new creation by water and the word. From heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride. With his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died.
Elect from every nation, yet one o’er all the earth, her charter of salvation: one Lord, one faith, one birth. One holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses, with every grace endued.
Though with a scornful wonder this world sees her oppressed, by schisms rent a sunder, by heresies distressed, yet saints their watch are keeping; their cry goes up: “How long?” And soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song.
Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war, she waits the consummation of peace forevermore: till with the vision glorious her longing eyes are blest, and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest.
Yet she on earth has union with God, the Three in One, and mystic sweet communion with those who rest is won: O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we, like them, the meek and lowly, may live eternally.

Tuesday Prayer - "For Graduates:
Eternal God,
in your will our lives are lived,
and by your wisdom truth is found.
We pray for graduates who finish a course of study,
and move on to something new.
Take away anxiety or confusion of purpose,
and give them confidence in the future you plan,
where energies may be gathered up
and given to neighbors in love;
for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen."

THE ORDER OF WORSHIP FOR HOLY COMMUNION
June 7, 2026 11:00 A.M.
The Second Sunday after Pentecost

The flowers placed in the sanctuary are to the Glory of God and in honor of our church school students and teachers who begin summer break on 6/21.

Our worship leader is Rebecca Honick.

We welcome the Rev. Jeanie Collins back to the pulpit.

THE PRAISE TO GOD
Organ Prelude Suzanne Marx

The Call to Worship
Leader: The sinners, the saints, the broken, the whole:
People: We all come seeking the One who offers grace and hope.
Leader: The doubters, the devout, the wonderers, the wanderers:
People: We all seek to follow the One who works for justice and hope
for all of God's people.
Leader: The hesitant, the heroic, the grandparents, the little children:
People: We all listen for the songs of joy all creation sings to the One
who gives life and peace.

Hymn 515 - ““I Come with Joy”
I come with joy, a child of God, forgiven, loved, and free, the life of Jesus to recall, in love laid down for me, in love laid down for me.
I come with Christians far and near to find, as all are fed, the new community of love in Christ’s communion bread, in Christ’s communion bread.
As Christ breaks bread and bids us share, each proud division ends. The love that made us, makes us one, and strangers now are friends, and strangers now are friends.
The Spirit of the risen Christ, unseen, but ever near, is in such friendship better known, alive among us here, alive among us here.
Together met, together bound by all that God has done, we’ll go with joy, to give the world the love that makes us one, the love that makes us one.

THE CONFESSION
Leader: In this place, in this moment, we are called to consider God's promises and God's grace. God invites us, and delights in us bringing our questions, and also bringing our fears and failures, so we can begin to discover the truth for ourselves. Let’s pray together:
All: When we look for our place cards at the table of honor, do we see you standing at the back of the room with the servers? When we walk around the homeless on the way to the ballgame, do we see you sitting in the doorway with the hungry children? When we tell others to pull themselves up, have we forgotten how many people reached out their hands to us along the way?
Forgive us, God of mercy, for the harm we have done and the good we have left undone. If we would truly follow, we must be willing to take off our Sunday best and put on the aprons of service, offering everyone we meet the bread of life and cup of hope which have come to us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Hear us now in silence and stillness as we bring our individual confessions to you.
Silence and stillness is kept

Assurance of Pardon

THE PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD
Prayer of the Day
All: We thirst, O God, for your word of life. Let us hear and believe your truth. Make your truth flow from our hearts like rivers of living waters. Let it touch the lives of all who likewise thirst for life anew. In Jesus name. Amen.
Hebrew Text: Hosea 5:15-6:6
Psalm Reading: Psalm 50:7-15
Gospel Text: Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26
The Sermon The Reverend Jeanie Collins
Creed
This is the good news, which we received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day, and that he appeared to Peter, then to the Twelve and to many faithful witnesses. We believe he is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. He is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. He is our Lord and our God. Amen.

Hymn 13 – “The Mighty God with Power Speaks”
The Mighty God with power speaks, and all the world obeys; from dawn until the setting sun, God’s wonder earth displays. The perfect beauty all around from Zion’s height shines forth; and stars across the firmament so brightly beam their worth.
God comes not with a silent form, but riding on the winds; before God’s face, the raging storm its blast of thunder sends. All hail the Judge, in bold array, whose promise is to bless; who sees our sins, yet also feels our thirst for righteousness.
The heavens declare your justice, Lord, as endless as the sky; against the taunts of disbelief, our God will testify. Receive my heartfelt gift of thanks, as honor to your might; refresh my faith with each new day; protect me through the night.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Pastor: The Lord is risen.
People: He is risen indeed.
Pastor: Let us pray. Father, whose Son Jesus Christ taught us to pray; let our prayers for others be the kind you want, and not just ways of getting what we want, who already have so much in Jesus Christ, our Savior.
People: Amen.

The Intercessions
Response: Hear our prayer, O Lord. Hear our prayer, O Lord.
Incline your ear to us, and grant us your peace.
THE PEACE
Leader: God sent the world his only Son. Since God loved us so much, we too should love one another.
People: Let us love one another since love comes from God.
Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Response:
Come and fill our hearts with your peace
You alone, O Lord, are holy
Come and fill our hearts with your peace
Alleluia!
THE OFFERING
Call for the Offering
Offertory
Doxology
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him all creatures here below;
Praise him above ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Dedication
THE INVITATION TO THE LORD'S TABLE
Pastor: Friends, this is the joyful feast for the people of God.
People: People will gather from across the Earth to sit at the table in the Kingdom
of God.
The Invitation

THE THANKSGIVING
Pastor: May the God of Hope and Mercy be with you.
People: And also with you.
Pastor: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
Pastor: Open your hearts to God’s Steadfast Love.
People: Our hearts are glad in God.

Prayer of Thanksgiving (followed by...)

All: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Hosts!
Heaven and Earth are full of you!
Heaven and Earth are praising you!
O God most high!

A Prayer (followed by...)
All: Remembering the Lord Jesus, we break bread and share one cup, announcing his death for the sins of the world, and telling his resurrection to all people and nations.

A Prayer (followed by...)
All: O God, who called us from death to life: we give ourselves to you; and with the church through all ages, we thank you for your saving love in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father in heaven, holy be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not bring us to the test, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

THE WORDS OF INSTITUTION

WE SHARE THE COMMUNION
Pastor: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
People: Amen.

Communion hymn during distribution of the elements.
Let Us Break Bread Together
(To be sung during the distribution of the Bread:)
Let us break bread together on our knees;
Let us break bread together on our knees;
When I fall on my knees,
With my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

Let us praise God together on our knees;
Let us praise God together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees,
With my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

(To be sung during the distribution of the Cup:)
Let us drink wine together on our knees;
Let us drink wine together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees,
With my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

Let us praise God together on our knees;
Let us praise God together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees,
With my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

Hymn 543 – “O Christ, Surround Me”
God, be the love to search and keep me; God, be the prayer to move my voice; God, be the strength to now uphold me: O Christ, surround me; O Christ, surround me.
Bind to myself to Name of Holy, great cloud of witnesses enfold; prophets, apostles, angels witness: O Christ, surround me; O Christ, surround me.
Brightness of sun and glow of moonlight, flashing of lightning, strength of wind, depth of the sea to soil of planet: O Christ, surround me; O Christ, surround me.
Walking behind to hem my journey, going ahead to light my way, and from beneath, above, and all ways: O Christ, surround me; O Christ, surround me.
Christ in the eyes of all who see me, Christ in the ears that hear my voice, Christ in the hearts of all who know me: O Christ, surround me; O Christ, surround me.

Benediction
All: Amen, Amen, Amen.

Verse to Remember: "Are any among you in trouble? They should pray. Are any among you happy? They should sing praises. Are any among you sick? They should send for the church elders, who will pray for them and rub olive oil on them in the name of the Lord. This prayer made in faith will heal the sick; the Lord will restore them to health, and the sins they have committed will be forgiven. So then, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you will be healed. The prayer of a good person has a powerful effect." -James 5:13-16

Tuesday Prayer - "For Those in Distress:
Almighty and everlasting God,
the comfort of the sad,
the strength of those who suffer,
let the prayers of your children who cry out of any tribulation come to you.
To every soul that is distressed,
grant mercy, grant relief, grant refreshment;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
