We are called to welcome and love others in a time of anxiety over difference. We love because we choose to love and because the Holy Spirit empowers us to love.

1st UMC congratulates Rev. Dr. Greta Smith on her ordination as a deacon in the United Methodist Church. The creditialing ceremony was held Sunday, May 31st during Holston Annual Conference at Lake Junaluska, NC.

Greta has been working on this for several years and her role is now "official." When you see Greta, please be sure and tell her "congratulations."
