We continue our study of Luke's narrative of the Good News of Jesus Christ in our passage today from Luke 12:1-12, in a message titled “Marching Orders for True Disciples!”

Application – Luke 12:1-12
How to Live as a True Disciple

1. If You Are Phony—Admit It. Confession may feel like failure. / Actually, it may be the beginning of healing.

2. If You Are Fearful—Redirect Your Fear. Imagine two scales. / On one side: the approval of people. / On the other: faithfulness to God. True disciples learn which side carries eternal weight.

3. If You Are Worried—Turn the Worry Into Prayer. Worry rehearses the problem. / Prayer brings the problem into God’s presence. / That does not always change the situation immediately. / But it changes who carries the weight.

A Final Picture: The Disciple in the Crowd. Father. / Son. / Spirit. - We are not sent into battle alone.

As we set aside this weekend to honor all the hard working men and women of this country, we know that many sacrifice each day to ensure their families are cared for. It reminds us that Jesus Christ sacrificed his life, that we may have new life in Him.

1 Corinthians 15:58
So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Please join us at Putnam Congregational Church this Sunday, September 6th at 10:15 a.m., as we receive our "Marching Orders for True Disciples" From Luke 12:1-12

1. Guard Your Heart Against the Leaven of Hypocrisy. Do not wear the mask. Live transparently before God, because truth always wins in the end.

2. Fear God More Than You Fear People. Redirect your fear. Fear God rightly, and you will gradually fear people less.

3. Confess Jesus Openly—Do Not Hide Your Allegiance. Let your life and your words openly agree: Jesus is my Savior, Messiah, and King.

4. Trust the Holy Spirit When You Do Not Know What to Say. Do not let anxiety silence your witness; trust the Holy Spirit to help you speak faithfully.

Welcome to Putnam Congregational Church - August 30, 2026!
We continue our study of Luke's narrative of the Good News of Jesus Christ in our passage today from Luke 11:37-54, in a message titled “Clean from the Inside Out!”

Application – Luke 11:37-54 - Never and Always

1. Never try to fix an inward problem with outward cosmetics. Jesus is the Great Physician. When His Word exposes something painful, do not attack the Physician. Receive the diagnosis.

2. Always pay attention to the inside. The inside questions matter more than outward appearances.

3. Let good deeds flow from a cleansed heart. Good works are beautiful when they flow from grace. We serve because Jesus served us.

4. Make the weightier matters your priority. Never let minor preferences become major barriers.

5. Use influence to lighten burdens, not add them.
Galatians 6:2: Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

6. Let Scripture lead you to Jesus. The goal is knowing God
