As we gear up for the 93rd Annual Morrow Turnover Sale, here's a look back through the archives.

This feature ran in The Star-Ledger on July 1, 1993, opening day of the 60th sale. It celebrates the late Barbara Bauble and the late Mary Auth, two Turnover champions who co-chaired the sale together for nearly a decade. The reporter called it "Maplewood's Miracle on Baker Street," a nickname that's stuck ever since.

A few details that haven't changed in 33 years: the swarms of shoppers, the easy checkout, the camaraderie of setup nights, and the quiet certainty that someone, somewhere, will find exactly what they didn't know they needed.

First drop-off day is June 13. The sale opens June 25. Are you ready?

Thank you to our incredible kids for an amazing performance of Rescue in the Night: The Story of Daniel in the Lion's Den, and to Holland and Cynthia for shepherding the whole production with so much heart. Inspired work, all around. Bravo.

Two special reasons to gather this Sunday, May 17:
🦁 10:30 a.m. Worship Service — Children's Musical at Morrow. Our kids present Rescue in the Night: The Story of Daniel in the Lion's Den. Come cheer them on.
🎶 5 p.m. — Love Unfolding at St. George's Episcopal (550 Ridgewood Rd, Maplewood). A joint service with the choirs of Morrow and St. George's, featuring music by q***r composers past and present. A celebration of God's unending love.

A maple, in Maplewood. The Sunday school teachers (read: the moms) got a Sunday off. The kids got dirt under their nails and a lesson in patience: 130 years ago, a Sunday school class posed in front of a ginkgo sapling (right hand side of the last photo). That sapling is now the sprawling tree behind the group in the second photo. Give this new one a century or so! 🌱

Thanks to the generosity of church members, Morrow offers scholarships to graduating seniors and to scholars pursuing graduate degrees in ministry, medicine, or education. The awards recognize your membership at Morrow, your faith, and your participation in the life of the church. The Morrow United Women in Faith will also review applications and offer support from their own resources. Submit your applications by May 17th. Details at the link below!

This Earth Day, we’re looking up ☀️

In 2019, thanks to the generosity of Fred and Sue Profeta and other church members, Morrow took a meaningful step in caring for God’s creation by installing solar panels on the roof of our Fellowship Hall—now generating a significant portion of the church’s electricity and significantly reducing our carbon footprint.

It’s part of a broader commitment to stewardship: from energy-efficient lighting to community-wide sustainability efforts, we believe faith shows up in how we care for the world around us.

📅 Save the Date: The Morrow Turnover Sale is back this summer!

The 93rd Annual Turnover Sale kicks off Thursday, June 25 — and if last year's record-breaking $106,687 in sales is any indication, this one's going to be something special.

Dropoff days begin June 13th. Sale days run June 25 – July 11, with evening and Saturday morning sessions.

All proceeds go directly to local charities and organizations supporting women, youth, and children in need Northern New Jersey and beyond.
