This June, GBCS acknowledges the contributions and sacrifices of the LGBTQIA+ community in the pursuit of peace and justice nationally and globally. Pride Month was established in the United States to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. The United Methodist Church’s Social Principles affirm that human sexuality is a gift grounded in love, care, and respect.

We encourage members and congregations of the church to take time to learn from and listen to members of the q***r community, to practice inclusivity, and to stand in solidarity against attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community—especially those targeting youth. We call for the protection of the rights and personhood of q***r and trans people within both the church and public policy.

Ways to engage: Join the LGBTQIA+ monthly working group (fourth Wednesday of every month at 5 p.m. ET), connect with your conference chapter of the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) for resources, and participate in advocacy efforts in your local community and state.

Starting this Wednesday!

Join us on the deck on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm for Short Book Summer, a relaxed and engaging journey through some of the shortest books of the Bible—from Obadiah to Jude, and many in between. What wisdom and insight can be discovered in just three pages or less? By exploring one book each week, you’ll finish the summer able to say, “I read ten books this summer!” Bring your own Bible and a nonalcoholic beverage. Sessions begin on June 3 and end on August 12. No session on July 1. Open to ages 14 and up. Come for one week or come for all! See you there!

On July 4, 2026, the United States of America celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence that marks the beginning of the nation.

In a new video series titled "From Crown to Conferencing: Methodism and the New Republic," we reflect on the roles Methodists have played leading up to and after the Declaration of Independence was signed.

The landscaping project is underway and there are some great quality plants up for grabs. All plants will be on the blue tarp near the bike rack. First come, first served. Watch for updates as plants are taken and new ones are added.
