Join us as we roll up our sleeves to work, serve, and pray alongside members of the Mobile Hope community Monday, July 20th – Thursday, July 23rd!

Hope Week is a big undertaking but it meets a very real need. This four-day mission is a powerful opportunity to live out our faith through service, spreading hope, building community, and making a real, lasting impact. Whether you can join for one day or the entire week, every helping hand is needed.

This is a physically active, hands-on experience. Projects may include building repairs, painting, yard work and clean-up, hauling materials, and other meaningful tasks that directly support the Dayton mobile home community. We especially need those with skills in construction, repair, painting, or landscaping, but there is truly a place for everyone willing to serve.

Taco Tuesday Returns!
Join us on Tuesday, July 21 at 6:00 pm for a fun and meaningful evening to gather, share a meal, and celebrate the work being done.
This is also a great way to participate if your availability is evenings!

We are looking for a Taco Tuesday Coordinator (individual or family) to shop, prepare the meal, host the evening, and help with clean-up. You’ll have plenty of helping hands to support you! Interested? Contact Theresa at [email protected].

Additional ways to help beyond the work sites:
- Provide homemade treats for volunteer lunches
- Serve as a dedicated “runner” (helping with supplies and logistics)
- Be available for general support wherever needed
- Hope Week Prayer Warrior! Pray for Mobile Hope Residents and our SJTW work crews during this special week!

Don’t wait to claim your spot. Signing up early helps us put plans together for an efficient and fruitful week!

Sign-ups available on the parish website at sjtw.net/hope-week-1.

Our veterans’ favorite meal is back: our annual grilled steak dinner! Join us at Haven for Heroes in Anoka as we serve a special meal to the courageous men and women who have served our country. More than just dinner, this evening is about gratitude, community, fellowship, and making our veterans feel seen, valued, and loved. On Monday, June 8, we’ll gather to prepare and share a delicious steak dinner with the residents. Volunteers are needed to help cook in St. Joe’s kitchen, grill steaks, visit, and spend time with our veterans. Come be the hands and feet of Christ as we honor those who have given so much for others.

Limited slots are available! To sign up or ask questions, please contact Theresa in the parish office at [email protected].

Fr. Mike's Reflections

I have started speaking about my encounters with folks participating in reconciliation. When a child goes to Confession for the first time I try to make it as easy as possible. Whatever they say is fine. I want them to know that no matter what they might have done. God always loves them. Sometimes I will ask them “Why is it wrong to fight with your sibling?” I smile when their response is “Mom says it is.” At that age that is enough. I encourage parents to develop the child so they can understand it extends beyond a parent to our relationship with people in general.

The SJTW community is filled with people who are always ready to extend a helping hand to neighbors in need. Through the generosity of our parish family, the Helping Hands Fund continues to be a source of hope, dignity, and support for those facing difficult circumstances.

This fund helps provide emergency assistance such as food, temporary housing, personal care items, and financial support to individuals and families both within our parish and throughout the local community.

On the weekend of June 6/7, we will hold our special Helping Hands collection. We invite you to support this important fund so that, together, we can continue walking alongside those experiencing hardship.

Please look for the Helping Hands envelope in your giving
packet. Donations may also be made online by selecting “Helping Hands” from the drop-down menu, or by placing your gift in the collection basket marked “Helping Hands.”

Thank you for continuing to be the hands and feet of Christ.

Fr. Mike's Reflections

Over the past several weeks I have written about experiences I have had with the 7 sacraments. The first time that I had the opportunity to hear a confession a young man came in. He was probably in his early to mid-20’s. He was so moved by his personal encounter with Jesus during the week that he felt compelled to be reconciled to God. He poured out his heart about the things he had done wrong. He desperately wanted to know that even with all the bad things he had done, was he reconciled to God? He took a long time, probably 45 minutes or so. But in the end, he had a smile on his face. Such a transformation. After he left, I went and knelt in the sacristy thanking God for allowing me the opportunity to help someone know the unconditional love of God. Sometimes the reconciliation is worth the effort.
