Morning Manna: “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians 10:13
Billy Sunday once said, "Temptation is the Devil whistling at the keyhole; sinning is opening the door and letting him in."
Temptation itself is not a sin. However, yielding to it is. Here are some powerful truths found in 1 Corinthians 10:13.
First, Everyone gets tempted...
Even Jesus was tempted in Mathew 4:1-11. Regardless of your title or status in life, temptation will find you.
"But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed." James 1:14
Remember this: If our flesh is not surrendered daily to God, we are most susceptible to disobeying the Lord. (Romans 6:12-13)
Second, God knows your limit!
God knows us better than we know ourselves. He is faithful. If we desire to do everything in our power to do right, God will do the rest. Satan can only do what God allows him to. (Job 6:1-12)
"After you have suffered a little while, God will restore, strengthen, and establish you." (1 Peter 5:10)
Third, God will provide a way of escape every time! This is found by placing our faith in Christ and what He did for us at the cross.
What an extraordinary promise! When you feel there is no way out, God will make one. Granted, a person must be looking for it.
John Ruskin said, "No one can be delivered from temptation unless he has firmly determined to do the best he can to keep out of it."
When you are tempted, take it to the word of God. When Jesus was tempted by Satan, he combated each attack with scripture.
Remember, God's word is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. (Hebrews 4:12
