We are excited to start our Youth Group meetings real soon, and cannot wait to begin what are two (admittedly) ambitious goals for the fall semester. For breakfast, we will hit on one chapter of the Gospel of Mark each week, encouraging the kids to read the entire chapter before they get to breakfast, and then focusing on one "anchor verse" in that same chapter that week. Then, during our fall "lesson days", we are going to cover the Book of Revelation, with session designed to make sure the kids focus on: Jesus is Lord, remain faithful to Him, evil will not win, and God will make all things new. All middle and high schoolers are welcome. See you soon!

Happy Birthday to Virginia Dare, born August 18, 1587.

Today marks the 439th birthday of the first English child born in the New World, right here on Roanoke Island. Her birth symbolized hope for a new life in an unfamiliar land.

But her story is part of the enduring mystery of the Lost Colony, which vanished just a few years later, leaving behind only the word “CROATOAN.”
