For every survivor who is willing to be the first to come forward, there are 10 or 100 more out there who will trickle in once the public narrative overcomes the abuser’s gaslighting in their head, telling them maybe they’re mistaken, maybe they’re crazy, maybe they should just stay silent. For the few stories that see the public light, there are generally many, many more in the darkness. We know this first-hand.

At CFCtoo, our first priority is abuse survivors. While we seek to educate people as part of our advocacy, that is secondary to our main work of caring for survivors.

How do you multiply the number of unknown victims resulting from known perpetrators being relocated to other churches?

Who can do the math on performative rehabilitation that prioritizes a predator’s desire to continue to attend church or an abuser’s ministerial ambitions that come at the expense of the vulnerable?

It means a reordering of resources and attention, a casting down of the powerful and exalting the lowly, an unflinching attempt to humbly engage something that isn’t crisply & mathematically defined—the unquantifiable wreckage of both individual and collective sin.
