About Our Church...........'The Church that God Built'
Acts of the Apostles Still Being Preached as it was in the Early 1900's
The story of the Mabscott Holiness Church and its origin is not a lot different than other
churches. It started years ago when the gift of the Holy Ghost fell on several farmers and coal mining
families, along with many others. I can still hear my mother tell how my Gr
andpa (George Moore) couldn't write his name. When
God called him to preach the Gospel, he gave him the ability to read the Bible. I guess you
might say it started in the early 1900's when he would preach in tents or store buildings about
Jesus. Some churches began to mock them and call them holy rollers and new lights, but it didn't stop
the word from going forth. Grandpa is gone to meet the Lord now, but his work goes on. My mother (Georgie Keller)
began to preach, as well as her brother (Bill Moore). As time went on, God blessed their
ministry with signs and wonders. Brother Bill was the leader, and everyone shared in the blessings as well as the work of God. These laborers of the cross went from place to place holding meetings, and God would bless in
a great way. It seemed like every time they got started building or backing someone that they
would either get locked out or someone would not want them in their building. After moving around for years, God began to speak and tell the people to establish a home
church. It all started in a store front building on Whitestick St. It was 20 ft. wide and
about 25 ft. long. The church had a lot of growing pains, and in July 1970 God spoke to me in the spirit and said:
"Lead my people, I have called you to lead." This I have tried to do. The church began to grow
and I wanted to expand. I remember the first $100 for the building fund. We enlarged the
church from 48 ft. long to 100 ft. God continued to bless and we haven't quit yet. Pastor E.G. "Buzz" Keller - pastoring since 1971
