A Midweek Devotional with Pastor Dawnmarie - From the series When God Asks the Questions

“What is that in your hand?” — Exodus 4:2

When God called Moses, Moses immediately focused on what he lacked.

He wasn't eloquent.
He wasn't confident.
He wasn't ready.

But God didn't ask Moses about what he lacked. Instead, He asked: “What is that in your hand?”

A simple shepherd's staff.

Ordinary.
Common.
Nothing impressive.

Yet that ordinary staff became a tool God used to display His power and accomplish His purposes.

How often do we focus on what we don't have?

We don't feel qualified enough.
Smart enough.
Experienced enough.
Spiritual enough.

Yet God often begins with what is already in our hands.

Your gifts.
Your experiences.
Your story.
Your faith.
Your willingness to say yes.

God is not limited by what you lack. He delights in using what you place in His hands.

Maybe today the question isn't, "What am I missing?"

Maybe the question is, "What has God already placed in my hand?"

Remember, God loves you… and so do I.

This week I held the very first printed copy of the reflection guide from our series “When God Asks the Questions”…. and honestly, my heart is full.

“Where Are You?” was written as a devotional journey through fear, hiding, grace, and the beautiful truth that God still comes looking for us with mercy and love.

What started as a sermon message has now become a printable reflection guide designed to help people slow down, reflect, pray, and draw closer to the heart of God.

I’ve already had several people ask for copies, and that has been such an encouragement to me.
