Faith For Where We Are Going
1 Timothy 2:1-4
One of the common mistakes we make in the church today is believing that because our God is so good at using a bad situation for our good, that He is the author of negative situations.
We have 3 core beliefs in this Apostolic church:
God is Good all the time
He is the God of the impossible
We are the object of His affection
He takes the broken pieces of our lives and puts them together so well that we have a testimony!
Romans 8:28 AMP…And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.
Good (G) agathos – describes what originates from God is empowered by Him in our lives through FAITH to bring good in every situation.
So, the problem comes from the enemy, but the solution comes from God and brings about good in our lives!
1 Timothy 2:1-4 NIV…I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Peaceful (G) eremos – meaning free from outward disturbance.
Quiet (G) hesuchimos – meaning to keep one’s seat.
If you believe that God brings evil, you will be powerless in the conflict!
We see a Divine progression in this Passage:
Pray Give Thanks People will be Saved!
As we do this, the Reality of Heaven will begin to invade the earth!
Hosea 3:5 NLT…But afterward the people will return and devote themselves to the Lord their God and to David’s descendant, their king.[a] In the last days, they will tremble in awe of the Lord and of his goodness.
Goodness (H) Tuwb – meaning goodness and beauty in the wildest sense of the word!
Adversity turns our hearts to seek the Face of The Lord, to come to Him in relationship, not to be the glue that holds the relationship together.
Now that you have tasted of His Goodness – serve only Him!
Text: Acts 8:1-8
We see in this Passage that it is possible for Miracles to impact a city to the level that great joy breaks out – even before people are saved.
The Gospel was preached here because persecution took place, pushing God’s people out of the place of comfort and into the surrounding areas.
There is POWER in The Word, and He says “AMEN” to His Word when it is spoken.
Acts 4:1-4 NIV…At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number of Jews and Greeks believed. 2 But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the other Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers. 3 So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders. 4 The people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews, others with the apostles.
This is the key to the entire message:
Most of what we were designed for is on the opposite side of adverse winds, but learning to navigate the attitude of our hearts and the confession of our mouths will help us to advance against opposition! So, pray, give thanks, and live in Shalom.
