The first endeavor to establish an Antiochian Church in Southern California started in the early 1900's by a handful of Arabic American Orthodox families in Los Angeles. Since its establishment in 1950, there has been a gradual transformation of the Cathedral resulting from renovation, remodeling, and re-beautification. Nicholas is one of the most impressive Orthodox Cathedrals in all North America. The mosaics were specially made in Florence, Italy, by the world-renowned five hundred year old Mosaic School of Michael Mellini and Company. Anoi (Praises) in Tone Five.

To do among them the judgment that is written, this glory shall be to all His saints.

The grave, O Lord, having been sealed by the transgressors of the law, Thou didst emerge from within like as Thou wast born of the Theotokos; for the incorporeal angels did not know how Thou wert incarnate. Likewise, the guardian soldiers were not aware when Thou
didst rise; for these two matters were concealed from all seekers. But the wonders appeared to those who worshipped the mystery in faith. Therefore, grant us, who offer praise, joy and Great Mercy.

Chanted by Patrick Haddad and the Saint Nicholas Cathedral Choir.
