My dad once told me: "no one can destroy iron, but its own rust can. In the same manner, no one can destroy a person, but one's own mindset can." He was referring to self-destructive behaviors.

Self-destructive behaviors such as drinking alcohol and drugs, produce chemical changes within the human body which override anxiety and soothe us. These self-destructive coping strategies quickly become our “go to”because we believe they are effective.

Transformation is a state of change, in form, appearance, nature, or character. Romans 12 shows us that transformation begins with our mind. The human mind is first renewed and then transformed.
Thoughts, questions, answers and inquiries are stored in the human mind.
As a man thinks, so is he. Our mind is the leading part of our soul. When our mind is transformed, our emotion and will also are transformed.

As a man thinks, so is he ( Proverbs 23:7).
The thoughts of an evil person are evil. The thoughts of a righteous person are righteous.
An assessment of your thoughts would reveal who you really are. Can I ask you a question? Who are you?
Your thoughts are a mirrior image of you. An evil person sees people through the lens of his or her evil thoughts. Because of your corrupt thoughts, you might eventually see others as evil. Your perception is shape by your thoughts.
If your thought process is defiled or corrupt you might need a renewal of mind.

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Thoughts, questions, answers and inquiries are stored in the human mind. The goal of the renewal of the human mind is to have the mind of Christ-to reprogram your mind to its original state.

It is written “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:16).
Transformation is a process of changing a person to be more like Jesus-to have the mindset of Christ.
You can't reproduce the character of Jesus on your own or by your own strength.
The job of the Holy Spirit is to produce the character of Christ in you

Detoxification or detoxication is the physiological or medicinal removal of toxic substances from a living organism, including the human body, which is mainly carried out by the liver. Just as there is physiological or physical detoxification, in the same manner, there is a spiritual detoxification of the toxic human mind.
Just as physiological detoxification requires basic steps, in the same manner, the spiritual detoxification of the human mind requires basic steps.
