Calvary Community Church is a friendly family of believers in Jesus Christ. We gather each week to celebrate God and remind one another of his amazing grace and love poured out through Jesus into our hearts by his Spirit. Sunday is an opportunity for us to communicate the unchanging gospel of Jesus in a fresh

way. We respond together in song, giving, the giving of offerings, and the sacraments (baptism and the Lord’s Supper), We do the same things Christians have done for centuries. Through the teaching, music, storytelling, and celebrating, we aim to keep the focus on Jesus. We strive for life-changing gatherings. Our music and preaching is never for the sake of a show, but for pointing everyone to the greatness and love of God. We want to clearly and consistently communicate the good news of Jesus to all who gather with us..

The annual Awana Grand Prix was a hit! Kids who had spent the last several months learning about God and the Bible enjoyed a change of pace last night as they raced their homemade cars. Some cars were fast, some were stylish, and some were both. Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to the volunteers. With this, Awana wraps up for the time being, but we’ll see you all again at Awana in autumn, and VBS will be here before you know it too!

This morning, a tank of “white liquor” industrial solution ruptured explosively at the Nippon Dynawave plant here in Longview. Media reports indicate that multiple people were injured by the resulting exposure to dangerous chemicals, and some people have even lost their lives. We pray that the injured recover quickly and that God comforts the families of those who have passed. Today is a tragic reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of loving those around us well during the time that we have.

Thankfully, Calvary’s own Corky Jackson, a Nippon Dynawave employee, is safe. We thank God for His mercies.
