I feel like a proud Mama today. Katey is the first client I took in on my second day as Director at the shelter. This young lady walked at 4 am from Taco Bell at Judson road for months. She worked hard, went to Celebrate Recovery, did her chores, slept on an air mattress and did it with joy and a smile. Today she flew the coop 🪺 and got her own apartment. We are proud of our baby and what she managed to accomplish in 3.5 months. Now we just need to pray for her a dependable car. These are the stories that our donors need to know too! Your money gave her a safe place to be fed, sheltered and loved while she put in the hard work. We wish her and roommate who was also a client all the blessings as they enjoy their new home.

♻️ Beginning NEXT MONTH, Recycling Carts are for Recycling ONLY♻️

Last week the City Council chose to continue curbside recycling, but in order to increase participation and maintain low contamination rates, please note the following changes to the curbside program beginning the week of Monday, Oct. 19:

🗑️ Trash will no longer be accepted in the blue-lidded recycling bins (If a bin is clearly contaminated it will be tagged and removed. Additional trash bins are available at the standard fee of $5 monthly if needed).
🗓️ Recycle carts will ONLY be collected on their designated day (one day after trash day). Recycle carts taken to the curb on trash day will be skipped and collected the following day.
👥 In addition to our Blue Crew, Mayor Kristen Ishihara is gathering a task force of residents to help educate the community about the program and recommend a "goal" to determine if the program is a success.
