NEW SERMON SERIES: SEED TO HARVEST
A Four-Week Series on Prayer — Beginning August 9
Sunday, we're starting a new sermon series called Seed to Harvest, and it's really about one thing: prayer. Specifically, the freedom that comes from remembering that praying is something we're responsible for — but growing the answer has never been our job. It's God's, and His alone.
Over four weeks, we'll walk through that truth stage by stage, the way a farmer would walk a field from planting to harvest:
Aug 9 — "Sown" — We begin with permission and relief: prayer is the sowing, not the growing. You're not failing at prayer just because you can't see the harvest yet.
Aug 16 — "Rooted, Not Yet Fruiting" — We sit in the long, quiet middle — when nothing looks different yet, but God is still working beneath the surface, in ways we can't see or explain.
Aug 23 — "Budding" — We look at what it means to simply stay close to Jesus, so that prayer becomes less like a discipline to master and more like the natural overflow of staying connected to Him.
Aug 30 — "Harvest" — We close by celebrating answered prayer — including prayers planted by people who came before us, whose harvest we get to enjoy today.
This Sunday, August 9, we begin with "Sown," grounded in Galatians 6:7–9. We'll also hear from two supporting passages that deepen the picture: Luke 18:1–8 and Ecclesiastes 11:1–6.
This week's readings:
Main Reading — Galatians 6:7–9 ("Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap... And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.")
Supplementary — Luke 18:1–8 (the Parable of the Persistent Widow)
Supplementary — Ecclesiastes 11:1–6 (sowing seed without knowing which will prosper)
I'd encourage you to bring your Bible (or use the pew Bible) and read Galatians 6:7–9 ahead of time — we'll be spending our time in that passage together on Sunday.
Looking forward to walking through this one with you.
