Join us for CVUU’s annual Water Communion! You’re invited to bring a small amount of water from a place or moment that holds meaning for you—a favorite spot in nature, your family home, a special trip, or even the first rain after a long dry spell.

During the service, these waters will be poured together into a single bowl, symbolizing how our diverse experiences and sources of inspiration flow into one shared faith.

The Water Communion is also a beautiful expression of our UU Value of Interdependence, reminding us that we are connected to one another, to the Earth, and to the greater web of life.

August 30th is our 5th Sunday extravaganza! We will have joyous hootenanny with Lyndi. All are welcome to bring instruments. All levels of singing and music expertise are encouraged to join in for this raucous good time. Get ready to sing your heart out and/or play your instrument if you have one (tambourine, maracas, accordion, ukulele, or whatever).

Bring a potluck dish to share if you are willing and able. If not, we hope you will come anyway!

Though relatively new to CVUU, Kristen's unique personal and professional background coupled with her continued obsession with the question "why" orient her attraction to UU communities. Echoing UU's own shift to values, Kristen will explore her philosophical and spiritual evolution(s) through discussion of her grounding values of curiosity, meaning, and care. This talk is meant to be an invitation to community - Kristen hopes that in getting to know one another better, even stronger community bonds can be crafted.

Note, there will likely be mention of divorce, religious trauma, family trauma, and grief, but also cats

How often do we pause to truly check in with ourselves across all the areas that shape our well-being? Next Sunday, we will examine our lives through the holistic framework of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness—exploring how physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, environmental, occupational, and financial health interconnect to support our overall vitality. Building on last week’s discussion on values, this service will feature a hands-on opportunity for reflection and life planning. Together, we’ll reflect on where we currently find balance, identify areas that may need a bit more care, and align our daily actions with what matters most to us.

At our July 26 CVUU service, we will explore the recent transition by the UUA from our seven principles to "Our Shared Unitarian Universalist Values." Building on the foundation of love, the UU values are generosity, transformation, equity, pluralism, interdependence, and justice.

What is the reasoning behind this significant change? Specifically, what impact will this have on both our secular and church lives? Is there a meaningful distinction between our familiar and beloved principles and the newly proposed values?

Jay Black (media ethics professor emeritus) and his daughter Laura (USU professor in the Heravi Peace Institute and Department of Communication) will help us work through some values clarification exercises and ways to talk across seemingly intransigent values conflicts in today's fraught times.

On June 18th 2026, the current DOJ published a memo stating that the 1999 Olmstead Supreme Court decision did not uphold the Rehabilitation Act or Title II of the ADA, stating that states must provide the most community-integrated care possible to individuals with mental disabilities. This memo comes as a major multistate lawsuit, Texas V. Kennedy, has been filed against the Rehabilitation Act requirements and nationwide cuts to social services funding. These legal and policy actions leave disabled individuals without necessary care, force them into further poverty, and threaten to reinstate mass institutionalization. This talk seeks to raise awareness of these legal and policy issues through a sociological-historical lens and calls on community members to take action to support the rights of people with disabilities.
