Jesus' letters to the seven churches in Revelation reveal both the strengths and struggles of His people. Some churches had lost their first love. Others remained faithful through suffering. Some tolerated compromise, while others appeared alive but were spiritually asleep. Yet through every letter, Jesus calls His church to repent, remain faithful, overcome, and draw near to Him.

As we finish this Seven Churches series, may we examine our own hearts and ask: What is Jesus saying to His church today?

The church in Laodicea had grown comfortable, relying on what they had instead of fully depending on God. But Jesus didn't give up on them—He called them to something greater. His message was a loving invitation to wake up, rekindle their passion, and return to a vibrant relationship with Him.

The story of Laodicea reminds us that no matter how far we've drifted or how comfortable we've become, Jesus is still calling us closer. He stands at the door, inviting us into deeper faith, renewed purpose, and a life fully surrendered to Him.

This week, be challenged to move beyond complacency and step into the fullness of what God has for you. The fire can burn again. The passion can return. The door is open.

The church of Philadelphia was not the largest, strongest, or most influential church, but it was one of only two churches in Revelation that received no rebuke from Jesus. Though they had "little strength," they remained faithful, held fast to God's Word, and refused to deny His name. Jesus commended their perseverance and reminded them that He opens doors no one can shut. The message to Philadelphia is a powerful reminder that God is not looking for impressive strength—He is looking for faithful hearts.

The church of Smyrna shows us what it means to remain faithful when following Jesus comes at a cost. In the middle of suffering and uncertainty, Jesus reminds His people that true riches aren’t found in comfort, but in unwavering trust in Him. Smyrna challenges us to stand firm, fear less, and hold tightly to the hope of eternal life—no matter what we face.
