One of the fascinating things about the book of Colossians is that Colossae
was a small, unknown town that St. Paul and Timothy, two of the key
leaders of the Holy Christian Church at this time, take time to write a
significant, inspired book of the Bible in order to build up their faith and
strengthen their small Church! This certainly reminds all of us to pray for our Church.
Pray for me, pray for our staff, pray for our school, pray for our leaders,
pray for our people. Pray that the Gospel is properly and accurately
proclaimed so that disciples are made! Prayers as an important part of
congregational life1; and St. Paul and Timothy model that for us as they
pray for the Colossian Church! They have “not stopped praying” and
“continually ask God” on behalf of the Colossians!

The Ascension of Jesus into Heaven is the beginning of the “End Times.” We are living our lives in the Last Days. The Ascension of Jesus into Heaven was like the firing of the starter's gun at a track meet, or the click of the stopwatch; the timer is going. The countdown to the Last Day began when Jesus ascended into Heaven. Time is now measured and limited; the Day of Grace gets shorter and shorter.
