Humility isn’t demanding that others care about me.

It isn’t deciding I only need to care about myself either.

It’s getting my eyes off myself long enough to see you.

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” — Philippians 2:4

We weren’t meant to follow Jesus alone.

God designed us for community—people who encourage us, challenge us, pray with us, and walk alongside us as we grow in our faith.

That’s why we’re excited to relaunch Life Groups this Sunday at 9:30 AM! Whether you’re brand new to Church on a Hill or you’ve been here for years, there’s a place for you.

Come find your people. Grow together. Follow Jesus together.

The author of Hebrews is writing to Jewish believers who are scattered around the regions because of persecution. He reminds them that they need to have true community with each other in order to stay faithful to King Jesus.

We are no different today.

We are often so distracted, so busy, so overwhelmed, so anxious, and more.
We need each other.
We need Community.

Maybe you have been experiencing that blessing of community for a long time
Maybe you are new in your journey of following Jesus and still unsure about what this all looks like

We don’t want to bait and switch you with false promises or ideas

Being part of a true community is amazing in so many ways, but there is a cost to finding and being part of a Christian community.

What does it mean to not lose heart?

In 2 Corinthians 4 Paul uses a Greek verb that describes someone who is so fatigued that he or she has fallen into corrupt conduct, or the neglect of duties, or has completely lost the courage to finish the task at hand.

Common phrases we might use today to illustrate this would be “to throw in the towel”, “I’m done fighting, I’m done running, and I just can’t go on anymore”,
“It’s not worth it any more”.

This is not talking about taking some rest after a busy season or following a different path that God may have in a new stage of life. But rather backing out altogether spiritually. One of the biggest challenges is that you can do this even while you still sit in a pew on Sunday. You may still be physically present, but no longer committed because you have lost heart.

Paul speaks this as something he and his companions are presently doing – “we don’t lose heart” and challenges us to do the same.
