“So intellectual growth does not always have to mean sitting down with a heavy academic book. There are many ways to learn. And this goes back to what I said earlier: the church is also a school. We learn our faith through preaching, teaching, conversations, and the people around us. The important thing is to stay curious, find trustworthy voices, and keep taking small steps towards understanding your faith more deeply.”

This is a quote taken from an interview with Dr. Bill Oliverio. This speaks to the reason why we, as Christians need to be in “communion” with each other. Not all of us are “scholars” or “academics”, but we all are being formed into the likeness of Christ and have something to offer each other as we grow.
Peter writes that we, like spiritual bricks are being built into the temple of God. Paul calls us the Temple of the Holy Spirit. The very first mention of humans in scripture is being created in the image of God. In that first mention is the idea that we need each other to truly be the “image of God”.

So, here is the question that needs to be answered: what are we doing to foster “togetherness”? The next question is: “When we “come together” what are we doing to help each other grow to “maturity in Christ”?

As believers we all have gifts, some we are born with, some we are given and some that are manifested, these gifts are best recognized and utilized in community…where they serve to bring the entire community to maturity in Christ.

Join us at Lexington Community Church tonight and Sunday and any other time, we want YOU to be a part of our community. We need YOU to be a part of our community. We are not who we are supposed to be if YOU are not here.
