This Sunday, May 31, 10:15am CDT - Flower Communion and Annual Meeting at Pilgrim House and via Zoom

Bring flowers from your garden to add to the fellowship bouquet, reflecting the beauty of our diversity and what each of us individually brings to it. Take home a flower from the fellowship bouquet representing what the fellowship gives back to each of us. The Flower Celebration as it is celebrated today by Unitarian Universalist Congregation was initiated in Prague on 4 June 1923 by Norbert Čapek, who was also the founder of the Unitarian Church in Czechoslovakia. He turned to the beauty of nature and had a communion of flowers. This will be a short program followed by the Pilgrim House Annual Meeting and lunch.

Ricardo Levins Morales is an artist and organizer based in Minneapolis. His work is widely used by grassroots movements, organizations and communities. He’s the author of The Land Knows the Way: Eco-Social Insights for Liberation, a collection of political medicines – gathered and gleaned from six decades of trickster art and activism, the long history of peoples’ movements, and the deep rhythms of our planet’s ecology. His Ricardo Levins Morales Art Studio features artwork he’s “created over years to encourage the laughter, hope, love and anger that move us toward a better world.”

This Sunday, May 3, 10:15am CDT - Rev. Leslie Mills – Stillness in the Storm

We’ve covered a lot of ground exploring “Activism in an Age of Compassion Fatigue” this year, from broad-level politics to conversations close to home. To wrap up, we’ll review some highlights and try a few new practices to support us in what lies ahead.

Soup Sunday follows the program.

This Sunday, April 26,10:15am CDT - Encountering Others: A Trans Theology of Solidarity at Pilgrim House and via Zoom

Amid escalating anti-trans political and religious violence, many people are seeking deeper understanding of transgender lives and experiences in an effort to strengthen their advocacy and allyship. In this program, First Universalist Trans Community Minister Seth Anderson-Matz (he/him) offers a theological framework for approaching trans solidarity as relational as opposed to conceptual, illuminating the wisdom embodied in trans life to invite reflection on our own experiences of gender.

This Sunday, March 29, 10:15am CDT - All About Research at the Arboretum at Pilgrim House and via Zoom

The University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a 1,200-acre public garden in Chaska, Minnesota, that attracts nearly 700,000 visitors per year. Best known for its beautiful display gardens, nationally recognized tree collections, protected natural areas and research activity, the Arboretum is easy to explore via paved paths, such as Three-Mile Walk and Three-Mile Drive, which are open year-round. Many miles of wooded trails, stone pathways and routes for cross-country skiers and snowshoers provide access to the healing power of nature in all seasons.

Matthew Clark, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Horticultural Science where he leads the fruit breeding program. He also serves as the Director of Research for the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. His research focus is on developing cold-hardy and disease resistant fruit varieties. For nearly 10 years he led the University’s grape breeding program before switching his focus to apples and other fruit crops. Professor Clark will provide an overview of the University’s research projects at the Arboretum and Horticultural Research Center, in Chaska, MN.
