We overcome by relying on Jesus and who He says you are. Romans 8 gives 5 things that tell us who we are:

- We are no longer slaves to sin and are seen as righteous.
- Because of the Holy Spirit within us, we are heirs of God’s kingdom
- We have hope that we will be with the Father in heaven forever
- We get to be part of God’s good work in this world
- We are more than conquerors and nothing can separate us from the love of God.

While Satan can’t take away salvation, he can make your life miserable and to where you don’t experience the life to the full that God promises. It’s the small decisions you make that pull you away from people, from God, and from pursing Christ

Anger focuses us inward and not outward to love God and love others as He designed it to be. We can’t just accept all the blessings and mercy that God has given us and be unloving, unmerciful, and selfish with blessings when it comes to other people. We miss out on so much because we are so angry and focused inward that the opportunities to love God’s people pass us by.

Are you angry? Everyone has anger to some degree. If you don’t get your anger under control and place it at the Father’s feet and bring it to the light, it will make everyone around you suffer including yourself. Jesus doesn’t want that for you. He wants you to be free.

It costs you the ability to have deep relationships with people that you love, that deeply love you, and those you haven’t met yet.

You can’t form deep relationships quickly. It takes time and consistency. You can’t do that if you are reaching for other things instead of time with people around you.

Gluttony has everything to do with how we consume to satisfy our desires. When we consume something, does it widen our hearts towards God or narrow our hearts towards distraction? What do we reach for when fear comes, when anxiety rises, when the day has been long and tiring, or when life hasn’t turned out how you wanted?

Gluttony has commonly been associated with consumption and with food and drink, but the Bible gives a far deeper understanding of what it means. Our culture glorifies gluttony and companies make so much money because of it. The saying used to be “You are what you eat,” but now it makes more sense to say “You are what you buy” and “You are what you consume.”
