Thomas Malankara Orthodox Church, Long Island, New York, is one of the parishes of the North-East American Diocese of the Malankara (Indian) Orthodox Syrian Church, This church was established on April 1986. Since its inception, we have been using rental facilities to conduct the Holy Communion Service and other parish activities. The congregations membership and needs have increased. For more tha

n 27 years we were using the rented space of the St. With the limited facilities, it had become very difficult for us to accommodate the increased needs of the parish members. In 2002 we bought a property in Levittown, NY to construct a church. To build a church building in New York is no small task but looking at the needs of the faithful and the future of our children, we had to go forward. We faced many obstacles throughout the years of construction, but with Gods grace we overcame everything that came our way. With the leadership and guidance of our vicar, the Very Rev.Dr. Yohannan Sankarathil Cor-Episcopa we were able to complete the project in May 2014. On May 17th, 2014 the church was consecrated by H.H. Baselios MarThoma Paulose II

Day 2 of our Parish Family Conference was filled with prayer, learning, fellowship, and plenty of fun at the Kartrite Resort!

Throughout the day, our parish family came together for the Hours of Prayer, followed by enriching English sessions led by Fr. Mathew Alexander and Malayalam sessions led by Fr. Abey Abraham. Our Sunday School children also had a special session led by Seminarian Mathews Gheevarghese (Denny), along with plenty of fun in the bouncy house.

Of course, no day at the Kartrite would be complete without enjoying the water park! We ended the day with Malayalam and English movie nights, bringing everyone together for a wonderful evening of fellowship and joy.

Another beautiful day of growing together in faith, building community, and making memories as one parish family.

On May 2nd, St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Church Long Island hosted our annual Education Day for our Sunday School students.

It was a wonderful day filled with fun, learning, fellowship, and faith as our students participated in activities and presentations centered around the theme of James 1:22, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” Through their participation, the students reflected on the importance of living out God’s word in their daily lives.

We were blessed to have Fr. Roby Antony join us as our guest speaker and share words of encouragement and spiritual guidance with our students and church family.

Thank you to all of our teachers, parents, volunteers, and students who made this day so memorable. May God continue to bless our children as they grow in wisdom, knowledge, and faith.

Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!

40 Years of Faith, Fellowship, and Blessings!
This past weekend, our parish family at St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Church, Long Island joyfully celebrated our 40th anniversary—a milestone filled with gratitude, remembrance, and renewed faith.

Friday: We began with Evening Prayer, followed by inspiring devotionals by H.G. Geevarghese Mor Pachomios (Malayalam) and Fr. Aashu Alexander (English), setting a prayerful tone for the celebrations.

Saturday: Our Parish Perunal was beautifully celebrated by Pachomios Thirumeni, followed by a joyful Rasa around the church, uniting our community in tradition and devotion.

Sunday: Parish Day was led by our Diocesan Metropolitan, H.G. Zachariah Mor Nicholovos. A heartfelt program followed, commemorating 40 years of our parish journey. Speakers and delegates reflected on our struggles, accomplishments, and the enduring legacy of our beloved Valiyachen.

A special highlight of the weekend was the unveiling of our new parish icon of St. Thomas the Apostle to India upholding our church—also dedicated in loving memory of our Valiyachen, honoring his lasting impact, guidance, and the foundation he helped build for our parish community.

We thank God for guiding us through these 40 years and pray for His continued blessings in the years ahead. May the intercessions of St. Thomas the Apostle of India and all the saints be with us!

Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen! ☦️

As Holy Week comes to a close, we reflect on the sacred journey we shared together — from the joy of Palm Sunday, to the solemnity of the Cross, to the radiant light of the Resurrection.

May the prayers we offered, the hymns we sang, and the moments we experienced as a church family continue to live in our hearts. Let us carry the hope, humility, and love of Christ into our daily lives.
