Beloved SMUUCh-ers, it is time to gather in the spirit of radical hospitality and deep-seated joy. We are shifting our rhythm this month to create a celebration worthy of a milestone that warms all our hearts.

Our incredible Rev. Rose is marking 10 years of leading us with wisdom, courage, and love. To honor this beautiful decade of ministry, the LGBTQIA+ Group is hosting an All-Church Potluck Lunch that promises to be as vibrant as the community she has helped us build.

When - Sunday, May 3, immediately following the service.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Minister; we have decided to cancel service and any in-person activities scheduled for Sunday, January 25th, 2026.

With the current predicted snow accumulation levels and the dangerously cold temperatures; our primary concern is the safety of our members, visitors, and staff. We want to ensure that no one is put at risk traveling in these frigid conditions.

Please stay safe and stay warm.

Join us this Saturday, Oct. 25th at SMUUCh for the 7th Annual Trunk-or-Treat (5–8PM) in the back parking lot — candy, costumes, face painting, food truck & more!

Head inside for our Spooky Potluck Party — doors open at 5PM, dinner at 6PM. Bring a fall -or Halloween-themed dish to share! 🍂🍽️

The SMUUCh Annual Meeting will be held after the service on May 18. This is an important event that helps establish direction for the church over the next year. The agenda will include the election of officers and members of the Board of Trustees as well as members of the Nominating Committee. Please also see attached Sustainability Report. Please plan on attending the annual meeting on May 18. If you can’t make it to the meeting, you can still vote by proxy! Whomever will be your proxy, should have a copy of the proxy voting form below, and can then vote in your stead. Copies of the form are available in the office or welcome table. Note that we need at least 25% of the members of the church, excluding proxies, to establish a quorum.

Per the SMUUCh bylaws -

Sec. 5. Proxy Voting

A member of the Church who cannot be present for a congregational meeting may identify another member of the church to cast his or her vote by proxy. No member may serve as proxy to more than one (1) member of the church. Each present member wishing to cast a vote by proxy must be able to present a completed proxy voting form bearing the signature of the person on whose behalf they are voting. Proxy votes do not count towards the establishment of a quorum. There shall be no proxy voting for the calling or dismissal of a minister or for the dissolution of the Church.

We’re partnering with Lyric Opera of Kansas City to bring you a free performance of a new opera for families: Maya and the Magic Ring on Wednesday, April 9th!

Nine-year-old Maya discovers a dazzling ruby ring in her grandmother's belongings. She rubs the jewel and accidentally releases a genie, leading to chaos as she wishes her cat and toy unicorn to life. Realizing she is in a pickle, Maya must choose her final wish carefully.
