A reminder, it is vital that we listen,
really listen, to the children.

“On Monday, Billy didn't have his homework
And when the teacher asked him why
He said, "Because a monster ripped it up,
After I told him a lie."

"You know monsters don't exist,
And if you don't turn in your homework
No recess you will get

On Tuesday, Billy had a stomachache
And when the teacher asked him why
He said, "A monster took away my dinner,
even my cherry pie."

"Billy, I've told you once before,
Monsters are not real.
You'll have to wait till lunchtime
Before you get a meal."

On Wednesday, Billy had a bandage,
Which covered his right eye.
When the teacher asked him how it happened,
This was his reply:

"A monster was running after me
When I ran into the door:"
"Billy please," the teacher said,
"I don't want to hear any more."

On Thursday, Billy refused to sit down,
And when the teacher asked him why,
Billy said, "A monster whipped my bottom,
Because I started to cry,"

"Billy, said the teacher,
" this is getting out of hand,
And if you continue with these stories,
In the corner you will stand."

On Friday, Billy didn't come to school,
And when the teacher found out why,
She said a little prayer to God
In hopes Billy would survive.

For a monster had beaten Billy
and threatened him with a knife.
Now Billy lay in a hospital bed,
Fighting for his life.

So teachers please remember,
That monsters are for real.
Listen closely to kids stories,
A wounded heart you may heal

Dear Valued Educator -
Thank you so much for your commitment and dedication to education. We want to make our educators aware of some great opportunities that are coming up for our group at NEW.

We are very excited to be able to have an exhibit at the upcoming General Assembly of the Church of the Nazarene, which will be held in Indianapolis in June. We hope that you will stop by the display and attend our session on Saturday morning to learn up to date information on how we plan to support you as you educate in Jesus' Name.

This spring, we will be asking our educators to consider taking a more active role in the work of NEW. We need help in four ways:

1. Pray for Christian Educators in all settings around the world.

2. Consider becoming a member of our NEW Executive Council. We currentlly need representatives in Global Education, Public School Education, Early Education, Higher Education, Christian Schools and Home School Education. These are not elected positions, but we need at least two people in each area to serve on the Council. Those two people will lead a larger team of educators in each area to plan for support, Professional Development and encouragement of those in each representative area. The Council holds a Zoom meeting once each month for about one hour. In addition, Council members write articles for our bi - monthly newsletter.

3. Consider becoming a "Think Tank Team" member. These teams are a new concept for NEW and they will work independently of the Council to support educators in their representation area. Teams will make their own schedule to meet and communicate with the Council. You have a great opportunity to have a voice!

4. Please consider joining NEW as a member so that you may vote for the officers, and benefit from resources offered to our members. These are listed on our website and include a professional library, a network of educational coaches, free Professional Development offerings, Zoom prayer gatherings, discounts, etc. We are hoping to expand our support for educators, but we need our members to help us plan for that!

Please consider becoming actively involved with us at NEW. Please inquire with any questions, etc. to [email protected]

Thanks so much,
Marilyn J. Dominick
