Sister Nduke Clement’s journey to religious life began with the quiet, persistent witness of the School Sisters of Notre Dame who taught her in high school. “Their humility, their simplicity of life, and their steadfast service to the poor stirred something deep within me, a longing to serve humanity through the Church; to give my life to something larger than myself,” said Sister Nduke.

Today, Sister Nduke serves as Head of Administration at Caritas Makeni, a faith-based NGO that is the charity and development arm of a Catholic diocese in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone. This ministry allows her to merge her faith with practical service, ensuring that resources are directed toward building communities and uplifting lives.

We are proud of S. Limétèze Pierre-Gilles, SSND to have been a featured speaker at the United Nations High Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2026 parallel event ‘Communities of Hope: Advancing Human Dignity and Development for Sustainable Futures.’ The School Sisters of Notre Dame in conjunction with five other religious communities from the Justice Coalition of Religious organized the event. Sister Limétèze spoke about Beyond Borders. During the UN main event 35 countries will present reports on their progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Today's Gospel reminds us that God works most powerfully in hearts that are humble and open to His grace. Rather than carrying our burdens alone, Jesus lovingly invites us to entrust them to Him. As we walk with Christ and learn from His gentleness and humility, even life's heaviest crosses become lighter because we no longer bear them by ourselves. In Jesus, we find true peace, lasting rest, and the strength we need for life's journey.

May this reflection inspire hope and encourage deeper trust in Christ each day.Amen

Today like in the Gospel, we too are among those called and sent to continue Christ's mission of healing, teaching, and proclaiming the kingdom of God. In our families, schools, workplaces, communities, and ministries, we are invited to be instruments of God's love and mercy. Our world continues to hunger for hope, guidance, and compassion. Like the disciples, we may sometimes feel inadequate, but God equips those He calls.

As we reflect today, let us ask ourselves:• Do I see others with the compassionate eyes of Jesus?• How am I responding to God's call to serve?• Am I freely sharing the gifts, talents, and blessings God has given me?

May we become faithful laborers in the Lord's harvest, bringing His healing presence, compassion, and love wherever we go.

June 12 is the feast day for the 108 Martyrs of World War II, known also as the108 Blessed Polish Martyrs, Roman Catholics from Poland who were executed or died due to the N**i occupation. They were beatified by Pope John Paul II in Poland on June 13, 1999. The group is comprised of 3 bishops, 52 priests, 26 members of male religious orders, 3 seminarians, 8 religious sisters and 9 lay people.

Sister Maria Antonina Kratochwil, SSND, was one of these 108 martyrs. Learn more about her at bit.ly/blessedantonina.

Blessed Antonina and other SSND martyred during World War II are patronesses of Shalom, which is our SSND International Network for Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation. These women religious lived and died because of their faith. Today we recognize the significant relationship between their lives and deaths, and all that living Shalom calls us to: to risk all in faith for a more just and truly human world. They inspire in us a renewed commitment to promote a culture of life and address the injustices in the world today. With Blessed Antonina we listen to the cries of all creation and respond in solidarity.
