Dear Saints of Redeemer,

Greetings! Our Heavenly Father is merciful from age to age. Our texts this Sunday are very familiar to us. The Heavenly Father sent the Son of God into the world to be merciful to we who are sinners. Christ likens us to be like sheep that have gone astray, to be like a coin that is lost but now found. When one sinner repents and receives the forgiveness of sins, there is truly great rejoicing. Jesus is the Father’s Love manifest, He rules the church by His love, He graciously forgives our sins when we go astray. Lord, help us to see your grace and mercy that surpasses all understanding.

Dear Saints of Redeemer,

Throughout the Old Testament, our Lord spoke through the prophets. They foretold the coming of the Lord. The coming of the Lord was pictured as a great feast, many had excuses for why they couldn’t attend. Tragically not much has changed. Many have heard the invitation to come to the feast but for one reason or another, they neglect to come and receive the gift. We who are of many tribes and nations are no longer strangers of the Father’s love. By the blood of Christ, by the gift of salvation, we have been reconciled in the Body of Christ. We now wait for the great feast of the Lamb in His kingdom which will have no end. Lord grant us all to see that great and marvelous day. Amen.

Dear Saints of Redeemer,

Beloved in the Lord, our Gospel is a difficult text to hear. Christ gives two examples, one of faith and one of unbelief. The rich man had everything in this life and the poor man Lazarus had little. How often do we focus upon what is temporal and not what is eternal? In the Word we have everything we need. When we are oppressed with cross and calamity, let us not despair. Our hope rests in the promise of the Word. Lord, grant this unto us all.

Dear Saints of Redeemer,

Happy Holy Trinity! This Sunday we confess our faith in the Words of the Athanasian Creed. A creed is simply a statement of belief. Creeds are wonderful treasures that direct our hearts and minds to what the scriptures proclaim. Even more so, creeds bring out the wonderful gift of faith that is worked in us. The Heavenly Father has created us. The Son has redeemed us. The Spirit comforts and sanctifies us. “We worship one God in Trinity and Trinity in Unity, neither confusing the persons nor dividing the substance.” The Lord be with you all on this blessed day!

Dear Saints of Redeemer,

As Christ ascended, He promised the Spirit would come to the Disciples. Today we remember the coming of the Spirit. But what is the role of the Spirit? The Spirit works faith, He calls us by the Gospel. We who of many nations and tongues are brought into the Church. He gathers and teaches us the Words of Christ. The Spirit takes what is Christ’s that is forgiveness and gives them to us.
