Please join us this Sunday at 9:30 am for a great hour of Worship! Pastor Doug will give "The Basket of Figs" pt. 2. If you missed last week, pt. 1 is on our FB page. It's Communion Sunday - everyone is welcome! Fellowship Coffee after Worship!

The Basket of Figs pt2
This week we return to Jeremiah 24 to complete our look at this short chapter.

We finish by examining the idea of separation in two forms.

The first is a separation from the things that keep us out of God’s will. In the surrounding chapters it is clear that God gave Israel several chances to turn around on their own. But they did not.

The second is separation from the promise. Literally separation from God. If we are not humble and honest before Him, we are setting ourselves up for disaster.

May we hear him and turn our hearts before it is too late.

I hope you can join us, Sunday morning at 9:30a, live or Facebook live.

There is a place for you here.

"The Needle's Eye"

August 23, 2026 sermon & outline

The Needles’ Eye
Mark 10.17-25

1. Good? V18

- Secular evaluations will not work for an eternal God

2. Love v21a

- Jesus did not come to him with judgement or rebuke

3. Empty v21b-22

- Everything he had pertained to him. Everything Jesus had pertained to an eternal, relevant, God. The two don’t mix.

4. Enter v23-25

- The camel must lose everything. So do we.

The Basket of Figs

Jeremiah 24 is a short chapter. It consists of only 10 verses. And within these verses, Jeremiah uses an illustration that involves good and bad figs.

The descriptions are pretty simple: the good are very good and the bad are so bad they could not be eaten.

I have noticed on my way through by reading the Bible, that the distinctions what is sinful and what is not are sometimes very narrow. But the condition that we are left in after sin, is in stark contrast to the holiness of God.

This week, in part 1, we will look at the judgement and promise of restoration that God decreed for Israel.

I hope you can join us, Sunday morning at 9:30a, live or Facebook live.

Response

Some people talk about perspective, and sometimes people talk about measuring things differently. These could be somewhat close to each other. It is possible that my perspective influences how I measure things.

In Luke chapter 17, there is the story of Jesus healing 10 lepers. There are a lot of remarkable things to take out of this story. One of the greatest has to do with response.

When the lepers saw Jesus coming, they hailed him as the Son of God. They recognized his ability to heal.

And then they received their healing.

But only one of them turned back to give thanks. And this one, was not even a Jew.

Is it possible that sometimes, I am so close to the process, so busy expecting to be taken care of, so full of requests, that even when my greatest needs are met I still do not have gratitude?

There is a question that plagues my mind: is the response that I am prone to give the response that I should give? In other words, am I truly grateful for the things that God has done for me?

I hope you can join us Sunday morning at 9:30 AM, live or Facebook live.

There’s a place for you here.
