Perhaps the most famous verse in the New Testament is John 3:16. It’s sometimes called “The Gospel in a Nutshell.” Here God reveals his universal grace and mercy toward sinners. He shows His generosity in giving His only Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation. Faith is the instrument through which we receive this precious gift: Eternal Life.

We will have no greater Teacher than the Holy Spirit. Jesus promises, “He will teach you all things and bring to remembrance all things I have said to you.”. Thus we praise God, who on this day poured out His Spirit upon His disciples to teach and preach, to write and record all Jesus has said and done. We give thanks for the Spirit’s ongoing work in the midst of His people, teaching us all things pertaining to our life and salvation in Jesus Christ.
