Feast day: May 13
May 13th, 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to 3 Portuguese children in the small town of Fatima. She appeared six times and identified Herself as “Our Lady of the Rosary”, asking that they pray the rosary daily for the conversion of sinners. Mary also spoke of observing first Saturdays, devotion to her Immaculate Heart and the conversion of Russia. During the final apparition, the dance of the sun took place in front of 70,000 people.

Happy Feast of St. Catherine of Sienna! St. Catherine, please pray for us!

Today we celebrate the feast of St. Catherine of Siena (April 29). Consecrated Virgin, Dominican mystic, and a Doctor of the Church, St. Catherine pray for us!

During the 14th century, the Catholic Church was in a weakened state as it faced internal crises and the devastating impact of the Black Death. St. Catherine lived during the troubled period but ultimately played a key role in inspiring reforms that guided the Church to greater unity, sanctity, and stability.

Patronage: mothers, physicians, preborn children
St. Gianna was an Italian pediatrician, wife and mother who is best known for refusing both an abortion and a hysterectomy when she was pregnant with her fourth child, despite knowing that continuing with the pregnancy could result in her death. Gianna died a week after giving birth to her child, who was present at her mother’s canonization in 2004.
