The Beauty of What God Has Given
Scripture
“God, my choice, I chose you.
And now I find I’m your choice!
You set me up with a house and yard.
And then you made me your heir!”
There’s something deeply human about comparing our lives to others. We look around and wonder if we’ve missed out on opportunities, relationships, success, or comfort. But this passage gently refocus our hearts.
David isn’t focused on what he doesn’t have. Instead, he celebrates what God has already placed in his life. He describes God not just as a provider, but as his portion his inheritance, his security, his future.
And then comes a powerful realization:
“I chose you… and now I find I’m your choice.”
That changes everything.
This isn’t just about us striving to follow God. It’s about the humbling truth that God has also chosen us. You are not overlooked. You are not random. Your life is not an afterthought. You are intentionally placed, intentionally loved, and intentionally provided for.
When David says his “house and yard” have been set up for him, he’s not just talking about physical space. He’s talking about boundaries, seasons, and circumstances—his portion in life. And instead of resisting it, he calls it good.
That’s the invitation for us today:
To trust that what God has given—right now is not a mistake.
Even if it doesn’t look impressive.
Even if it feels smaller than someone else’s.
Even if it’s not what you expected.
God knows how to assign portions better than we know how to chase them.
Ask yourself honestly
1. Where in your life are you tempted to compare your “portion” to someone else’s?
2. What has God already given you that you’ve overlooked or undervalued?
3. How would your mindset change if you truly believed God has chosen you?
Prayer
God,
Help me to see my life the way You see it.
Teach me to trust the portion You’ve given me, even when I don’t understand it.
Remind me that I am chosen, loved, and placed with purpose.
Give me contentment, gratitude, and peace in what You’ve already provided.
