Sometimes the greatest miracle of missionary service is the change that takes place within the missionary. ❤️

Elder Melton has recently been transferred to Kennewick, Washington, where he continues to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet nearly 20 new people each week.

One of the great blessings of his mission has been witnessing his friend Drew enter the waters of baptism. Elder Melton was invited to speak about the gift of the Holy Ghost on that sacred day. Before leaving his previous area, he also had the joy of seeing two more people choose to prepare for baptism.

Yet, as Elder Melton serves others, the Savior is also changing his heart.

He shared that his companions have noticed his increased patience and that he has grown in ways he did not fully recognize. Through new experiences and challenges, he is learning to love others more as the Savior loves them.

This is one of the beautiful miracles of serving Jesus Christ: as we help others come unto Him, He changes us along the way.

“When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.” —Mosiah 2:17

We are grateful for Elder Melton and for all the missionaries from our stake who are serving far from home. Their willingness to leave behind what is familiar and share the Savior’s love is a beautiful example of faith, courage, and discipleship.

How has serving someone else helped you feel closer to Jesus Christ? Share your experience in the comments. ❤️

Called to Serve

We are excited to celebrate Heretier Nibigira, who has received a mission call to serve in the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission, speaking Haitian Creole!

What a beautiful opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, serve others, and bring His love and light to those he meets.

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15

Please join us in congratulating Heretier and keeping him in your prayers as he prepares for this sacred calling.

Another week in the mission field filled with laughter, unexpected moments, new people, and opportunities to talk about Jesus Christ.

General Conference was especially meaningful this week. One message stood out: keep pursuing the Savior.

Missionary service is teaching her that faith in Jesus Christ is strengthened through scripture study, prayer, worship, and sharing our testimonies.

As she reflected, “It’s all about Jesus.” The more we come to know Him, the more we recognize His love and feel the Holy Ghost drawing us closer to Him.

Her goal, during her mission and throughout her life, is simple:

Keep seeking Christ.
Keep talking to Him.
Keep learning of Him.
Keep sharing His light.

“Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you.”
Doctrine and Covenants 88:63

We are so grateful for our missionary and for all those who choose to share the Savior’s love. If your heart has been needing a little more peace, hope, or direction, we invite you to come closer to Jesus Christ. Start wherever you are. Say a prayer, open the scriptures, attend church, or reach out to the missionaries. He knows you, He loves you, and He is always worth pursuing.

The Lord is preparing hearts in ways we may not always see.

This week, one of our missionaries and his companion met a woman while out sharing the gospel. A few days later, they were welcomed into her home and discovered that her husband is a member of the Church who has been away for some time.

As they taught about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, something beautiful happened. The Spirit was present, hearts were touched, and she accepted an invitation to prepare for baptism. They are also joyfully preparing to celebrate the baptism of another friend they have been teaching.

General Conference brought an even deeper reminder of why this work matters. The Savior’s work reaches beyond what we can see. Through Jesus Christ and sacred covenants, families can receive blessings that extend through generations and even beyond the veil.

Missionary work begins with love. It is seeing another person as the Savior sees them and having the courage to extend an invitation.

“They were desirous that salvation should be declared to every creature…” — Mosiah 28:3

Perhaps someone reading this has been wondering about Jesus Christ, prayer, baptism, or what members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints believe.

Sometimes the Lord places people in our path at exactly the right moment.

While Elder Hill and his companion were out walking and looking for opportunities to share the gospel, they stopped to speak with a family they had never met. What began as a simple conversation turned into an unexpected reminder that Heavenly Father is aware of His children.

They discovered that the family had been watching General Conference and had a connection to the Church. They expressed a desire to come back, learn more, and help their children grow closer to Jesus Christ.

Elder Hill described the experience as a miracle and a reminder of what can happen when we listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost.

General Conference also left him reflecting on a powerful question:

“What can I let go of to come closer to Jesus Christ?”

For Elder Hill, the answer was pride. Sometimes drawing closer to the Savior means being willing to let go of something good, comfortable, or familiar so Heavenly Father can lead us toward something greater.

His invitation to all of us this week is simple:

What is something you can let go of to come closer to Jesus Christ?

We are grateful for missionaries who are willing to follow the Spirit, open their mouths, and trust that the Lord is already preparing hearts. ❤️

“And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ.”

When God Changes the Plan

Some of the Lord’s most beautiful work begins with something we never planned.

While serving in Ghana, our senior missionaries changed their schedule to visit a bishop’s newborn daughter. Another day, an unexpected young man ended up riding with them to a rehearsal.

That young man was not attending church.

A simple conversation became an invitation: Come to church this Sunday.

He came.

And eventually, he chose to be baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.

In the same season, other members they had grown to love continued forward on the covenant path, entering the temple to receive their own endowments.

A baby. An unexpected passenger. A baptism. Sacred covenants in the temple.

Different moments with one beautiful thread running through all of them:

God is in the details.

Sometimes discipleship means being willing to change our plans long enough to recognize the person Heavenly Father has placed in front of us.

Who might be waiting for an invitation from you?

Invite them to church. Invite them to come closer to Christ. Invite them to experience what you have experienced.

You may never know what God can do with one sincere invitation.
