065:Stance on AI: Human Writing, Faith, and the Future of Reading

This week we discuss fears about AI and human extinction before turning to an editorial from The Gospel Coalition titled “Our Line in the Sand on AI” (Aug. 5, 2026) by Brett McCracken, which argues AI output isn’t truly “writing” because it can’t love, suffer, or worship, and that TGC will publish only human-made, human-edited work. We read and react to TGC’s submission guidelines banning AI for ideating, most research, organizing, writing, and editing beyond spellcheck, costly feedback, and writing in community. The article proposes strategies like audio readings, columns, video/podcasts, and an AI guide for churches, claiming embodiment and Christ’s incarnation show why disembodied AI shouldn’t replace human connection. We find the stance strict but compelling, note acceptable non-creative AI uses, share personal experiences with AI sermon assistance and memory, and conclude churches need their own AI policies while acknowledging God can use tools for good. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the incredible generosity of our Lamb of God Lutheran Church & School community through the Allyfe Baby Bottle Fundraiser!

Today, during our school chapel, we had the special opportunity to bless and pray over the baby bottles that were so generously donated! As a school family, we lifted up these gifts, the ministry they will support, and the mothers, fathers, babies, and families who will be touched through Allyfe’s organization! What a beautiful reminder that our giving is not simply about a bottle or a donation—it is an expression of our faith, love, and prayers!

The LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) group here at Lamb of God Lutheran Church chose Allyfe as the recipient of their monthly Mite donation. Our LWML continues to support ministries that share God’s love and bring hope, encouragement, and practical assistance to others!

What makes this so special is that this truly has been a Lamb of God community effort! Thank you, Lamb of God family, for being a community that gives so generously! Thank you for caring about the lives of mothers, fathers, babies, and families, and for helping us share the love of Christ beyond the walls of our church and school!
