Amy Jill Levine is at the forefront of scholarship on the Christian Testament. I have used and will use her writings and videos for adult classes . This statement is magnificent in how it speaks truth clearly in love.

She was a giant among UCC scholars. Her “Hidden Histories “ is worth its weight in gold.

With heavy hearts we recognize the passing of the incomparable Rev. Dr. Barbara Brown Zikmund (BBZ) who died this morning. BBZ was a historian of the highest caliber, editing the 6-volume set of Living Theological Heritage, the first female to serve on faculty at Chicago Theological Seminary, became the Dean of the Faculty at the Pacific School of Religion, and President of the Association of Theological Schools. Her books and writings reached thousands of UCC History and Polity students. BBZ's presence on the UCC Historical Council was a driving force and provoked energizing collaboration. She will be deeply, deeply missed by so many. May her memory be a blessing.

More information will be forthcoming from the National Office.

A huge Thank You to everyone who made our worship and picnic at Vedauwoo so great! I know there was some juggling at the last minute around food and fire, but those who couldn’t do it let folk know in a timely manner and then those who could stood in the gap. And there was plenty for all.

Thanks as well everybody who went out of their way to welcome out-of-town guests, both extended family and folk who had been at Equally Wyoming’s Rendezvous. “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares". (Hebrews 13:2)

Looking forward to doing it again next year!

🔥 LET’S CALL THE BU****IT WHAT IT IS.🔥

“Love the sinner, hate the sin” sounds spiritual—until you realize what it actually means to a gay person:

“I love you, but I believe there is something fundamentally wrong with who you are.”

That isn’t love. That’s shame dressed up as theology.

You don’t get to condemn someone’s identity and then slap the word "love"on your condemnation.

You don’t get to tell a gay kid that God made them wrong and then wonder why they struggle to believe God loves them.

And you absolutely don’t get to call psychological and spiritual damage “speaking the truth in love.”

Being gay is not a sin.
You are not broken.
You are not disgusting.
You are not an abomination.
You are not a mistake.

You are a human being worthy of dignity, respect, and love.

So yes—“Love the sinner, hate the sin” is bu****it when “the sin” is simply being gay."
Jesus taught us to love people.
He never gave us permission to weaponize God against them.

🏳️‍🌈 God’s love doesn't need your condemnation to make it holy.
