Last Friday, Fred, our driver stopped at the donation center.
"Do we have cereal?" He asked, knowing we were low at the shelters for breakfasts.
"No cereal," staff replied.
Fred headed out and minutes later, the doorbell rang and a donor arrived with a large donation of food and other items including, yup, cereal! 10 double boxes of cereal!
Before staff could even call, Fred was back at the door. "How did you know?" Staff asked.
"Lindsey (from the kitchen) had items he needed," was Fred's reply. He didn't know that God had brought him back just in time to pick up cereal for breakfast the next morning.
What a blessing to witness God's provision and the compassion of our community at work every day! Thank you for the gifts that help us provide food, shelter, and hope every day to the hundreds we serve. 💙

Progress? When we arrived this morning, it looked like they were grading Walnut near the Kalamazoo intersection. This has been quite the project, and we are so grateful for the patience of volunteers, staff, and visitors during this time of road improvement downtown.

💙 to see these little tags! This is a basket filled with items for a guest moving into their own place. Thank you to Grandma's Comfort for providing these special gifts. Thanks to all those whose gifts and donations and prayers have supported this guest in their journey. Congrats to our guest as they move into their own place. 💙

(Note: Larch is the location of our donation center, where items are received and stored.)

“For you shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands."
Isaiah 55:12 (NKJV)

Shared by Staff: "I was walking down the long bed area hall with one of our guests. He was baptized a month and a half ago at Lake Lansing with some of our other guests. With the prompting of the Holy Spirit, I asked him where he was reading in the Bible. He said, 'I am not reading in the Bible, I just say the Lord’s prayer before I go to sleep.' I said, 'You need to know who God is and who you are now, and all about your relationship with God. You get that from the Bible.' He replied, 'That’s okay, I just say the Lord’s prayer before I go to sleep.' I told him, 'I can get you a Bible to have, and he was silent. So, I went back to the supply room to get some items as he got into bed. When I came back, passing by his bed, he said, 'Hey John,' so I went over to his bed and he said, 'Please can you get me a Bible?' and then I said I will be right back. I brought back a great, donated leather covered study Bible and went over how to use it with him. I thank God for prompting. I now need to pray for him to be consistent daily in spending time in the Word and answer any questions he may have."
