Behind the Scenes of Mission Manna 🍽: Our cooks and prep volunteers work hard behind the scenes to ensure we have enough salads and fruit (if available) to serve about 250 people every night. That's a lot of food to prep (and a lot of dishes to wash!). If you are interested in being a part of making our meals happen, they can use volunteers (especially those able to come on a regular basis). ‼If you are looking to help provide food, we especially need Canned Vegetables and Cereal! Our donation center has special hours this weekend but will be open again for donations on Tuesday, June 2, at 10 AM!‼

Donation Center Summer Hours: we have a few dates coming up when we need to temporarily suspend hours at our item donation center. We close early tomorrow, Friday (May 29) and will remain closed Saturday (May 30) and Monday (June 1). We are always closed Sundays. We reopen Tuesday, June 2, with regular hours (10 AM - 6 PM). If you have donations of clothing or hard good items, the best location to take those is always our thrift store: City Rescue Mission Uplift Thrift, 3800 W. Saginaw, in Lansing. They have hours of 10 AM to 8 PM (closed Sundays). Thank you for understanding and have a lovely weekend! 🩵

We recently had an opportunity to provide a tour of our new single adult shelter to a group from Holt Christian Church, including some who faithfully serve as volunteers at our women and children's shelter and at City Rescue Mission Uplift Thrift! It's always a joy to meet with people and show all that the Lord has provided through the faithful gifts and compassion of our community. 🩵

Shared by staff: "Recently, I met up with someone I knew from the Mission. She was living in her own place, had a great job, and was now reunited with her son. It was wonderful to see her and to hear of the incredible progress she had made. She was so joyful always and was especially happy to be rebuilding bridges with her family."

Mission Manna 🍽: Dinner the other night was Pizza or Chicken Bake with Italian 3-Bean Salad. Of course, there was also the usual sides including delicious desserts from our faithful donors. Altogether, we served 224 women, children, and men between our two locations. It is such a joy and privilege to be able to serve hundreds of meals every day in our community, and we could not do what we do without you! 🩵

Mission Need Alert: Cereal and Canned Vegetables! Numbers are in, and we provided 22,355 breakfasts and 25,130 dinners in the first three months of this year! Whew! That's a lot of meals, and if you are looking to help, our current greatest food needs are Cereal and Canned Veggies. Sadly, when we tried these on our Amazon Wish List, things arrived unusable due to dents and crushed boxes :(. If you do online delivery via MPerks, you could possibly try a delivery (as long as it's inside our regular donation center hours, listed below). Otherwise, you can go old school and deliver (Chris and Lisa would love to say "hello"!). Please note: we have holiday and summer hours at this location, so we are closed on Memorial Day. Thanks so much!

Stopped to chat with staff at our day shelter check-in desk on Saturday, and noticed the impressive illustrations adorning the laundry sign-up sheet. Natasha mentioned that she tended to doodle on the tops and one of the guests has taken up adding his own creative efforts. It's become a bit of a game to see who will doodle first. Both of these are his.

Huge shout-out to this great group of staff and volunteers, who came together last week to pick-up a donation of beds for the future women's dorm at our single adult shelter. There are still processes that need to be put into place before the big move, but we are getting things prepared. Thank you, everyone, for your willing hands. And thank you, fellow rescuers, as you pray for this entire process and for the hundreds of women, children, and men we are serving every day. We could not do what we do without you! 🩵
