Have you ever done something for so long that you forgot why you were doing it? In Zechariah 7-8, God's people came asking about fasting rituals. God responded with a far more uncomfortable question: "Did you really do this for Me?"

It is possible to attend church without loving Christ, sing without worshiping, and serve without surrendering. God is not impressed by religious activity alone. He desires hearts that have been genuinely transformed by Him.

The good news? God does not stop at exposure. He promises restoration. The very days of mourning would become occasions of joy. And when God truly renews His people, the world around them takes notice.

The question is not simply, "Am I religious?" The better question is, "Has Jesus changed me?" Our failures may be great, but His faithfulness is always greater. Join us as we journey from ritual to renewal.

What mountain are you staring at right now? A broken relationship, a prodigal child, a burden you have carried for years? Zechariah 4:6 reminds us that God's answer to our discouragement is never more manpower, more money, or a better strategy. His answer is Himself.

"Not by strength or by might, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of armies." The same God who leveled mountains for Zerubbabel sees your obstacle not as an immovable wall but as level ground. He is not overwhelmed by what overwhelms you.

Your weakness is not a disqualifier. It is an invitation to stop depending on yourself and start depending on Him. The power to live faithfully does not originate in you -- it comes from God working in you through His Spirit.

Let God remove you from your filth!

What if the very thing that disqualifies you is what God uses to display His grace? In Zechariah 3, the high priest Joshua stands before heaven covered in filth — and instead of condemnation, God removes his shame and clothes him in honor. Not because Joshua earned it. Because God chose him.

That is the gospel. You cannot scrub yourself clean. But God can, and He does — freely, completely, permanently. The accuser has no case against what God has already saved.

And it points forward to Jesus — the Branch, the Stone, the one who takes away the iniquity of the land in a single day. The one who invites every neighbor, every stranger, every unlikely person to sit in peace under His vine and fig tree.

Do not keep that invitation to yourself. Someone in your life is standing in their filth right now, not knowing there is another way.
