Our Fall Adult Book Group starts next Wednesday afternoon and we'd love to have you join us! This group is great for newcomers, visitors, members of other churches, or even friend-of-a-friends. We have all kinds in the group.

As the days grow shorter and shorter, this is a perfect time to question our tendency to associate all that is good with lightness and all that is evil and dangerous with darkness. With BBT, we'll wonder, "doesn’t God work in the nighttime as well?"

Pastor Laura's sermon today, "What Do We Owe Each Other?" on Romans 13.

How shall we measure our actions? Paul gives us only one measuring tool: love.

We are delighted to announce that our Godly Play Sunday School program kicks off THIS SUNDAY! Introducing this incredible program has been 2 years in the making and we are so thrilled to offer a sacred space for children to learn about God with curiosity, wonder, and play.

Children will leave for Godly Play after Children's Time on non-communion Sundays. Classes are led by a rotating team of trained storytellers and volunteers.

This month, we're taking some time to talk about parts of our worship services that we might be so familiar with that we don't stop to think about it. We're kicking it off with KIDS IN WORSHIP.

We are blessed to have children in our pews on Sunday morning, but it can be easy to take them for granted or to think that they “should” worship how adults are worshipping. Did you know…?

👦🏻Children don’t worship the way adults do. They move around A LOT and they often don’t have “inside voices” yet. Instead of shushing, try to direct that energy toward helping them wonder about what the other worshippers are doing. Worship bags help keep their little hands busy!

🧒🏼 Children learn by watching the adults around them. YOU are part of the Great Cloud of Witnesses that is teaching them about our faith. Didn’t bring a kid to church with you today? You can always invite one to sit with you or become an unofficial “pew grandparent” to one of our little ones.

👧🏽Children aren’t the future of the church—they are the present church. Just like a family changes when they have a new child, so, too, does our church change in response to our growing number of children. Traditional liturgies are adult-centric, so any time we add in simple repetitions, easy to sing hymns, sign language, body movements, or simpler sermons, it’s a way of putting children at the center of our congregational life.

The pictures here are from the Heal the World Summit that Pastor Laura and her family attended over the summer. Her family's posture in worship looked differently than the adults in the room, but by accommodating children's needs, the adults were able to worship and the children were able to experience a space where they knew they belonged.

A big thanks to our volunteers big and small who helped paint our office wing yesterday! It takes a village to care for our church property and we're grateful for all the help in renovating this wing for full use again.

Well that's a big blue sight for sore eyes!

Our Building & Grounds team has been hard at work this summer preparing for a building renovation of our Office Annex and construction is well underway. A contractor installed new drywall and replaced the old louvered windows and now it's time for paint!

We'll be having a painting & work day THIS SATURDAY August 29th from 9am-12pm and we're calling for all hands on deck! Come ready to work and we'll find a job for you!

When the construction is finished, we'll have a brand new pastor's office, conference room, and Godly Play classroom for our children's ministry. We can't wait!

A sermon preached by Pastor Laura based on Luke 5: 17-26, with inspiration from Anne Lamott's Help Thanks Wow. Preached on August 23rd 2026 at Lakewood Presbyterian Church.

Yesterday we had a special guest, Alisa Sutherland, who taught the congregation how to sign the Lord’s Prayer. Through Alisa’s teaching, we found new depth and meaning to these familiar words. What a gift! 🙏🏼
