Honorable Mention

Honorable mention is normally something that we do not appreciate. Think of the honorable mention ribbons given out as a youth. We wanted to be first place, or at the very least second or third place. We wanted to be the hero. But when we look at Joseph's story and how he accepted God's calling and took care of Mary and Jesus, so that Jesus' story could play out, we see that being honorable, doing the honorable thing, is something maybe we should all strive for and appreciate.

Not every dream is meant to be yours to chase. Sometimes, it's yours to carry.

Joseph never got a dream about his own future — his own success, his own plans coming true. Scripture doesn't even record a single word he spoke. What he got instead was a dream that asked him to let go of everything he thought his life would look like (Matthew 1:20-21).

He had plans. A trade. A timeline. A reputation to protect. And then an angel showed up in his sleep and asked him to step into a story that wasn't centered on him at all — to protect a woman the world would misunderstand, and to raise a child who wasn't his own by blood but was the hope of the whole world.

Joseph said yes. Quietly. Without applause. He packed up his family in the middle of the night and fled to Egypt when it got dangerous (Matthew 2:13-15). He came back when it was safe (Matthew 2:19-20). No spotlight. No credit. Just faithfulness, one obedient step at a time.

Maybe your calling isn't to build something with your name on it. Maybe it's to shield, to provide, to show up for something bigger than your own story — a family, a child, a purpose you didn't choose but were chosen for.

That's not a smaller calling. It's the same kind of obedience that helped change the world.

Sometimes the most important dream isn't the one you have for yourself — it's the one that asks you to make room for something greater.

Have you ever received a dream from God and found yourself fixated on the finish line — what it will look like, when it will arrive, how it will all come together?

What if the dream was never only about the destination?

Think about Joseph. His dream pointed to greatness, but the path led him through betrayal, slavery, and a prison cell. Think about Moses — called to lead a nation, yet first shaped by 40 years in the wilderness. Or David, anointed as king long before he ever wore a crown. In every case, God wasn't slow — He was intentional. Every detour was a classroom.

The dream God places in your heart is a gift, but so is the road that leads you there. The waiting seasons. The unexpected turns. The moments that stretch you, humble you, and quietly build in you exactly what the dream will one day require.

God isn't just preparing a place for you — He's preparing you for the place.

So if you're in the middle of the journey today and the destination feels far away, take heart. You are not lost. You are being formed. And every step — even the hard ones — is part of the purpose.

Trust the process. Trust the One who gave you the dream. 🙏

✨ From Joseph in a pit to Daniel in a foreign land — again and again, God spoke through dreams to remind His people: *I see you. I have not forgotten you. There is a plan.*

Maybe you're in a season where things don't make sense yet. Maybe the vision God placed in your heart feels impossible from where you're standing right now.

That's okay. So did Joseph's.

Keep going. Keep trusting. The same God who guided dreamers through the darkest chapters of the Bible is still writing stories today — and yours isn't over. 🙏

Something has been heavy on my heart lately, and I felt called to share it.

We are living in uncertain times. Many of us feel the weight of systems and powers that seem beyond our control. Fear is creeping in.

But then I think about Jesus.

He didn't live in easy times. He lived under Roman tyranny — brutal, corrupt, and crushing to ordinary people. And His response wasn't despair. It wasn't violence. It was a life so rooted in truth and love that it changed the entire world.

As I've been praying and reflecting, I keep coming back to these practices He modeled:

• Stay rooted in prayer — it's where our strength comes from
• Speak truth, even when it costs you something
• Show up for the vulnerable — the poor, the sick, the forgotten
• Build real community — you cannot do this alone
• Refuse to let hate take root in your heart
• Choose nonviolent courage over fearful silence

None of this is passive. All of it is powerful.

If you're feeling discouraged right now, I hope this reminds you: the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is alive in you. Tyranny never gets the final word.

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." — Romans 12:21
