my story please🙏❤️

8 MONTHS OF HOMELESSNESS… AND WE’RE STILL FIGHTING. 🙏🏽😭
My name is Danyale Griffin I have two children DaMariae (17) DaShyia (16). We live in Saint Louis Missouri.

For 8 months, my children and I have been navigating homelessness. Eight months of uncertainty, tears, prayers, trying to stay strong when I feel like I have nothing left, and waking up every day wondering how I’m going to make it through another day.

But what makes this journey even harder is that during this time, my son lost his mobility in his legs. 💔 My child, who has already endured so much, is now fighting to regain his independence. After everything he has been through, watching him struggle to walk has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced as a mother.

We are going to doctors’ appointments and therapy multiple times a week, doing everything we can to help him regain full mobility in his legs. I’m fighting for my son while trying to keep a roof over all of my children’s heads. I’m trying to be strong for everybody, even on the days when I’m hurting, exhausted, and scared.

And in the middle of all of this, I’m working Uber Eats and DoorDash daily, doing everything I can to earn enough money to cover our hotel costs every single day. There is no pause button on life when you’re homeless. The bills don’t stop. The hotel costs don’t stop. My children still need me, and my son still needs to get to his appointments.

Some days, I’m physically exhausted and emotionally drained, but I get up and keep going because I have children depending on me. I don’t have the luxury of giving up, even when life feels overwhelming.

Those who know me know I’ve always been a giver. I’ve blessed others, given what I had, and tried to be a light for people going through difficult times. Learning to be on the receiving end of help has been hard, but I’m learning that even those who pour into others sometimes need someone to pour into them.

I refuse to believe that this is how our story ends. 🙏🏽❤️

I believe God is going to bring us through this. I believe my son can continue making progress toward regaining his mobility. I believe my children deserve stability, peace, and a place they can finally call home. And I believe that one day, we will look back on these painful months and see just how far God has brought us.

If you pray, please keep my children and me in your prayers. Pray for my son’s healing and restoration, for strength for me as their mother, and for God to open the door to a stable home for our family.

If you feel led to help us in any way, please know that every prayer, every act of kindness, every donation, every share, and every bit of support means more than words can express.

We are not asking for sympathy. We are asking for prayers, compassion, and the opportunity to get back on our feet.

I’VE ALWAYS BEEN THE ONE TO GIVE… NOW I’M LEARNING HOW TO RECEIVE. 😭❤️

Anybody who truly knows me knows that I have ALWAYS been a giver. If we go somewhere together, chances are I’m paying for everything. I’ve given the clothes off my back and the shoes off my feet to help somebody else. I’m constantly looking for someone I can bless, encourage, or help in some way.

But now, I’m the one in need, and if I’m being honest, IT BREAKS MY HEART. 😭💔

It’s not easy being the person who is always pouring into others and suddenly finding yourself in a position where you need someone to pour into you. Receiving is hard for me because I’m so used to being the one who gives.

But God is teaching me something during this season: IT’S OKAY TO RECEIVE THE SAME LOVE YOU’VE SPENT YOUR LIFE GIVING TO OTHERS. 🙏❤️

Sometimes God will send people to help carry you when you no longer have the strength to carry everything yourself. Sometimes He will use people you’ve never met to remind you that you are NOT forgotten.

I know we will not be in this situation forever. My faith is STILL STRONG, and I still believe God for better days. But I won’t pretend that this season isn’t HEAVY. Some days, the weight of everything we’re facing is overwhelming. 😭

To every person who has prayed for us, sown a seed, sent a message, checked on us, encouraged us, or helped us in any way, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. ❤️🙏 You may never fully understand what your kindness has meant to my family, but please know that we appreciate you more than words can express.

And even in the middle of everything we’re facing, I’m still declaring what I believe by faith!

🏠 HOMELESSNESS IS NOT THE END OF MY STORY!

🙏 MY SON WILL REGAIN HIS MOBILITY!

❤️ MY DAUGHTER WILL FIND PEACE, JOY, AND HEALING!

🙏 MY TT BABY WILL BE ABLE TO WALK AGAIN!

🔥 WE ARE THE 7 WARRIORS, AND WE WILL RISE AGAIN!

We may be going through a storm, but this storm does not define our future. Our current circumstances do not erase our purpose, our faith, or the promises we are holding on to.

We are still standing. We are still believing. We are still praying. And even when our hearts are heavy, we are still trusting God.

WE ARE THE ! ❤️👑

We will overcome every obstacle. We will make it through this season. And one day, we will look back at these tears, these prayers, these struggles, and these moments of uncertainty and testify about how God carried us through.

Until then, please keep our family in your prayers. We still need them. We still need encouragement. And we are grateful for every person God places in our path.

WE MAY BE DOWN RIGHT NOW, BUT WE ARE NOT OUT! WE WILL RISE AGAIN! ❤️🙏😭

I pay for my hotel room DAILY. Today, all of a sudden, they’re trying to take an extra $50 off my card. So I go to the front desk, and they tell me, “Ms. Griffin, you have a $50 balance.” 😳

I’m like, “FOR WHAT?!”

They proceed to tell me it’s for my deposit. EXCUSE ME?! I’ve been at this hotel for 15 STRAIGHT DAYS, and I paid my deposit on the FIRST DAY! So how in the world is another $50 deposit suddenly due? Make it make sense! 🤦🏽‍♀️

I use ONE card to pay for my hotel stay, and that’s it. I go to the front desk every day to pay because I’m out here driving Uber Eats, working to make enough money to cover my room for the night. Every single night, my balance shows $0.00! So where is this extra $50 coming from all of a sudden?

People don’t understand how stressful it is living in a hotel, especially when you’re responsible for making sure you have enough money every single day just to keep a roof over your family’s head. I’m already doing everything I can to keep us going, and the LAST thing I need is an unexpected charge that nobody can clearly explain.

I don’t want to be charged one extra dollar that I don’t owe! It’s already hard enough trying to make ends meet one day at a time. 😭

WHEW, JESUS! My nerves are on 1,000 right now! But you know what? I’m going to take a deep breath, remain calm, and give GOD a PRAISE ANYWAY! 🙌🏽🔥

Because even when things feel overwhelming, I refuse to let frustration steal my faith. I’ve been through too much to give up now. I know this season will not last forever, and I’m believing God for better days, stability, peace, and a place my family can finally call HOME. 🏡❤️🙏🏽

LORD, I’M TRYING TO STAY CALM, BUT I NEED YOU TO WORK THIS THING OUT! 😭🙌🏽

In Jesus’ name, AMEN! ❤️

💔 MY SON NEEDS ANSWERS

I believe it is time for people to know what my 17-year-old son, DaMariae, has been going through.

DaMariae has severe scoliosis. On October 3, 2025, he began halo traction, which continued until November 14, 2025. On November 14, he underwent an eight hour spinal fusion to correct his severe scoliosis.

He fought through so much, and he did an amazing job recovering. ❤️‍🩹

Before all of this happened, DaMariae was a normal, active 17-year-old. He could walk, jump, hop, skip, use the bathroom, bathe, get dressed, brush his teeth, and take care of himself completely independently.

Then everything changed.

Before his fall, DaMariae had already been telling me that when he got up every day, it felt like his hip needed to be "popped" before he could walk normally.

Then, in June 2026, he fell in the shower.

He did an amazing job protecting his back when he fell, but as his mother, I was terrified.

We immediately took him to the doctor. X-rays were done, and we were told everything looked good.

But something wasn't right.

DaMariae told us that after the fall, his hip felt like it had shifted. Slowly, his legs began to stop working the way they had before.

And the scariest part?

**He wasn't complaining about pain.**

His problem was his FUNCTION.

His mobility continued to decline.

He went from being completely independent to needing a walker just to get around.

He now needs help using the bathroom, bathing, getting dressed, brushing his teeth, and doing other everyday things that he once did completely on his own.

My 17-year-old son who could walk, jump, hop, skip and take care of himself now needs assistance around the clock.

We've done everything we've been told to do.

He's doing intense physical therapy 5–6 days a week.

We had neurological testing done. During the examination, when his knee was tapped to check his reflex, his leg did not kick out as expected.

We're also waiting for a nerve test and are currently on the waiting list.

But we still don't have answers.

And as his mother, THAT is what is breaking my heart.

I'm not looking for sympathy.

I'm looking for answers.

I know my child.

I know what DaMariae could do before this happened.

I know how he walked.

I know how independent he was.

I know how much his life has changed.

And I refuse to believe that we should simply accept this new reality without understanding WHY it is happening.

🙏🏽 I'm asking everyone who reads this to please pray for my son.

Pray for his legs.

Pray for his strength.

Pray for his mobility.

Pray for his nervous system.

Pray for his doctors to have wisdom and discernment.

Pray that whatever is causing this will be identified.

Pray that the right doctor, the right test, and the right answer will find DaMariae.

Most importantly, pray that God completely restores my baby's body and his independence.

I believe God is still a healer.

I believe God is still a way maker.

And I believe there are answers even when we don't have them yet.

🙏🏽Please keep Da'Mariae lifted in prayer.

And if you are a medical professional who has experience with severe scoliosis, spinal fusion, progressive leg weakness, or neurological complications after spinal surgery, I would be grateful for any guidance about what questions we should be asking his medical team.

**We just need answers.**
