As I informed the congregation during the service, Bo Whitlock passed away yesterday morning, about two and a half years after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A friend to all, Bo will be greatly missed. We are all grateful for his faithful service to the church in maintaining our facility and cooking our meals. When I tasted the fried chicken in the Fellowship Hall on my first Sunday at Lake City UMC, I knew the Holy Spirit had guided the appointment process! Please pray for Bo’s siblings, Debbie, Barbara, Ann, and Grant, his daughter Kingsley, his grandchildren, and all the rest of Bo’s family in this season of mourning.
Bo’s visitation will be hosted by Carolina Funeral Home this evening from 6-8pm. The service will be tomorrow morning, Tuesday May 26 at 11am in our sanctuary, followed by burial at Lake City Memorial Park. His obituary can be found here: https://www.carolinafuneralhomellc.com/obituary/CharlesKBo-WhitlockJr
Tomorrow afternoon, Jessica Belflower’s funeral will be in the Sanctuary at 3:30pm with a visitation preceding at 2:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. Her obituary can be found here: https://www.carolinafuneralhomellc.com/obituary/Jessica-Belflower Continue to pray for Katie Belflower as she grieves.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.
-Pastor Carsten
Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplications!
If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with you,
so that you may be revered.
I wait for the Lord; my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord
more than those who watch for the morning,
more than those who watch for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is great power to redeem.
It is he who will redeem Israel
from all its iniquities.
(Psalm 130, NRSVuE)
