To my loving family at Lafe Baptist Church, today has been one of the most difficult Sunday’s I have faced in many years. As you now know this morning I preached at Walcott Baptist Church in view of a call and they voted unanimously for me to become their new pastor. I accepted the invitation and will begin there on September 6th. Tonight I shared this decision with our church. In all the 56 years in ministry this was the most difficult and painful decision I have ever made concerning leaving a church and going on to a new ministry. I have been at Lafe for 29 1/2 years and the memories and friendships that have been made have been such a blessing to Nancy and me. To say you will be missed is not even close to how we truly feel! I know you will be in good hands and the church staff that I have has been so supportive and will continue to see that the church will grow and prosper. My last service here will be Sunday morning August 30th. Please continue to pray for each other as we both take a path filled with unknown adventures but we all know that God will be guiding us all. Again thank you for allowing me to be your pastor . Some of you will understand what I mean when I say in closing
“I’ll see you when I see you.” Love you more than y’all will ever know!!!!
