Good Morning Church Family,
I’m writing this brief letter to ask for money. Probably not the best way to start a post, but I figured I’d get right to it.
Over the last few years, the Lord has blessed us by sending four Iranians to our church. We have baptized each of them and are currently discipling them in how to live the Christian life. One of the difficulties—which you may or may not know—is that when each of these Iranians was baptized, they essentially said goodbye to their home country forever. They cannot return, because they would be persecuted and likely executed.
With that reality in mind, each of them have been trying to navigate a way to remain in the United States. This usually involves applications for political asylum and green cards. All four of them are young college students and simply do not have the money required for these legal appeals.
Over the past year, the church has pitched in and helped significantly. To date, the church has paid about $12,000 in asylum-related costs. However, more expenses are mounting. The current amount needed is $3,200.
I’m writing to ask that you pray and consider whether you might be able to contribute to these
costs. It does little good to divert tithes to special causes, so I’m specifically asking you to consider a freewill offering over and above your regular tithe. The best way to give would be to donate to the church and designate the funds for asylum and green card expenses.
And if you don’t have the money, please pray for them—and for us—as we continue to walk alongside these young believers. As of right now the Islamic Regime has cut off communication coming out of Iran and they do not have contact with their families. Our friends need our prayers. They are concerned for their family and countrymen. Let us join together as a church and pray with them for the safety of their families, peace and freedom of religion in Iran.
Thank you for your prayers and consideration in giving at this time.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Brandon
