What happens when pressure enters the room?

After Peter and John were threatened for preaching about Jesus, the early church had a choice: allow fear to control the atmosphere or turn the room toward God.

Today, we begin our new sermon series, “Atmosphere,” with Week 1: “Make Room.”

We cannot manufacture God’s presence, but we can make room for Him through prayer, unity, and surrender.

“DON’T JUDGE ME!”

It may be one of the quickest Bible verses people reach for:

“Judge not…”

But did Jesus really mean that Christians should never tell someone they are wrong?

Today we continue The Bible Doesn’t Say That with a statement almost everybody has heard:

“Christians should never judge anybody.”

There is a difference between standing over somebody in judgment and standing beside somebody in accountability.

Jesus tells us to check our own hearts first.

But love also refuses to stand silently while somebody we care about walks toward destruction.

Accountability wants restoration. Judgment wants superiority.

And sometimes the most loving thing somebody can tell us is:

“I’m with you—but we’re not staying here.”

Does God want every Christian healthy, wealthy, and comfortable?

It sounds good.

It definitely preaches good.

But is that actually what Scripture promises?

Today at Vertical Church we continue The Bible Doesn’t Say That with Week 2: Blessed Means Comfortable?

We believe God heals. We believe God provides. We believe God performs miracles and blesses his people.

But we also have to deal honestly with Scripture.

Joseph was faithful and went to prison.

Paul preached the gospel and suffered.

The apostles followed Jesus and faced persecution.

And Jesus himself was rejected, beaten, and crucified.

So maybe comfort is not the best way to measure whether God is good.

Today we are also taking a fresh look at one of Christianity’s favorite verses:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13

It means something much deeper than, “Jesus will help me accomplish anything I want.”

Paul learned that Christ was enough when he had plenty—and when he had almost nothing.

A comfortable life is not the same thing as a blessed life.

📖 Philippians 4:10–13

You do not have to be the spiritual action hero who handles everything alone.

Movies make the lone hero look strong. The Army teaches you that leaving the team and attempting the mission alone puts everyone at risk.

God gave us his Spirit, his Word, and the family of God because we were never meant to carry life by ourselves.

Today we began The Bible Doesn’t Say That with the statement:

“God helps those who help themselves.”

The Bible teaches responsibility, diligence, wisdom, and hard work but it does not teach independence from God.

You can prepare for the fishing trip, bring the right gear, choose the right lure, and find the best-looking spot but you still cannot control the wind, the water, or whether the fish cooperate.

Life works the same way.

We do our part.

We work faithfully.

We make wise plans.

But we trust God with what remains outside our control.

“I am responsible, but I am not alone. I will do my part and trust God with what I cannot control.”

Today we close our Family Vacation series with Week 3: Faith for the Road.

Faith is not just for Sunday. It belongs in the everyday moments of life.

It belongs at the dinner table, in the car, before bed, in the morning, during hard conversations, in repentance, in forgiveness, in prayer, and in the way we live in front of the next generation.

Discipleship is not only taught in church. It is modeled daily in the home and carried together by the family of God.

Join us today at 10:30 AM as we look at Deuteronomy 6:5–9 and talk about building a faith that travels with us.

Today we continue our Family Vacation series with Week 2: Love That Trains Us.

Sometimes God has to pull us over.

Not because He has rejected us. Not because the journey is over. Not because we are no longer part of His family. But because He loves us enough to correct what could hurt us, damage others, or keep us from becoming who He has called us to be.

God’s discipline is not rejection. It is loving training from the Father.

Join us today at 10:30 AM as we look at Hebrews 12:5–11 and learn how God’s correction shapes us with grace, truth, patience, and purpose.

Our families do not have to be perfect to be used by God.

Today we begin our new series, Family Vacation, with a message called A Family on Mission.

God worked through Abraham’s imperfect family to bring blessing to the world, and He still works through ordinary homes, relationships, grandparents, parents, mentors, single adults, and the family of God.

The question is not, “Is my family perfect?”

The question is, “Is my family available to God?”

Join us today at 10:30 AM as we discover how God’s grace can flow through our families and help others see Jesus.

Happy Father’s Day!

We are going LIVE soon at Vertical Church, and today is a big day.

We are continuing our series Fundamentals: The Basics of the Bible with Week 3: The Father Who Keeps His Promise

Today we will honor fathers, men, grandfathers, and spiritual fathers but more than anything, we are going to worship the Father who never forgets His children and never breaks His promise.

We have Father’s Day gift bags for the men, and we will also be giving away a fishing rod/reel and camping chair after service.

But the greatest gift we will talk about today is this:

The Father gave His Son.

If Father’s Day is joyful for you, come worship.
If Father’s Day is complicated for you, come worship.
If you need healing, hope, or a reminder that God is faithful, this message is for you.

We are going LIVE soon at Vertical Church!

Today we continue our series Fundamentals: The Basics of the Bible with Week 2: What Went Wrong.

Last week we started where the Bible starts: God created.

Today we look at Genesis 3 and answer the question we all feel at some point:

If God made everything good, why is everything so broken?

This message is about sin, shame, hiding, and the God who still comes looking.

The warning is mercy.
Covered is not healed.
That voice is rescue.

If you have ever carried shame, hidden pain, or felt like you were too far gone, this message is for you.

Join us live, comment where you are watching from, and share this with someone who needs to hear that God has not stopped calling people home.

We are going LIVE soon at Vertical Church!

Today we begin a brand-new series called Fundamentals: The Basics of the Bible, and we are starting where the Bible starts:

God created.

Before we talk about what sin broke, we need to see what God made good.

This morning’s message is Created on Purpose, and we will be looking at Genesis 1 to see that your life is not random, your worth is not up for debate, and your purpose is not something you have to invent.

You were created by God, in the image of God, for the glory of God.

Come worship with us and invite someone to join online.

God created.
Sin broke.
Jesus saves.
The Spirit sends.
