Forgiveness Is Not Optional
📖 Matthew 6:14–15
Forgiveness can be difficult, especially when the hurt is real. We may feel that someone doesn’t deserve our forgiveness because of what they did. But Jesus makes it clear that forgiveness is not simply a suggestion—it is a part of our obedience to God.
Forgiving someone does not mean pretending the hurt never happened, excusing what they did, or allowing them to continue hurting us. It means choosing to release the offense into God’s hands instead of allowing bitterness to control our hearts.
Jesus reminds us that the way we extend forgiveness matters because we have also received forgiveness from God. We cannot ask God for grace while intentionally withholding grace from others.
Today, ask God to help you forgive what has been difficult to release. You may not be able to change what happened, but through God’s strength, you can choose what happens next in your heart.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to forgive as You have forgiven me. Remove bitterness, anger, and resentment from my heart. Give me the strength to release every offense into Your hands and walk forward in freedom. Amen.
đź’ˇ Remember: Forgiveness isn't saying the hurt didn't matter. It's choosing not to let the hurt have the final say.
