Your schedule is an indicator of what you value.

If there’s one day the Lord calls you to worship, don’t make the command to worship contingent on other opportunities as they come.

Your kids need to see your schedule revolves around the only One on the throne.

Have you ever heard, “I like the teachings of Jesus, but not Paul”?

Here’s the problem.

Just as the Bible says you can’t have the Father if you reject Jesus (1 John 2:23), the Apostle (Hebrews 3:1)… you can’t have Jesus and reject His apostles (the Bible).

The word “apostle” describes a messenger sent with the authority of the One who sent them. That’s why Jesus prayed all night before He chose twelve “apostles” from the greater group of disciples following Him.

The early church devoted themselves to the apostles teaching as new believers in Christ (Acts 2:24). The early church knew no “red letter only” Christianity.

So then, your relationship with the Bible (the apostolic teaching sent from Jesus) reveals your relationship with Jesus (the Great Apostle sent from the Father).

“Shake the dust off your feet” gets used like a tough-love slogan, but Jesus meant something far more serious. In this sermon, Pastor Trent opens Luke 9:1–6 where we see Jesus commission the twelve apostles, giving them real authority and a temporary empowering for ministry.

Then the message camps out Jesus' command to shake the dust off when a town refuses to receive His messengers. In its original Jewish context, dust-shaking marked separation from unclean pagan territory, which is why it’s shocking that Jesus applies it inside Israel.

The warning lands on us too: proximity to the things of God is not the same as knowing God. Church background, Christian habits, and religious language can sit right next to a heart that still rejects Christ.

In Luke 8:40-56 two people collide on a crowded road and both are running out of time.

Jairus is a respected synagogue leader with a dying daughter, and an unnamed woman has spent twelve years suffering, isolated, and broke from seeking medical help that never worked.

What happens next is not just a miracle story, it’s a clear look at who Jesus is when pressure is high: powerful enough to command nature, sickness, and death, yet tender enough to stop for one trembling person in the middle of a crowd.

Listen to this sermon to find out more.
