A gospel culture isn’t manufactured.

We can preach about it, teach about it, talk about it in LifeGroups, and put it on our walls — but we cannot perform our way into becoming the people of Jesus.

A gospel culture is formed when the Holy Spirit makes the way of Jesus genuinely and visibly true in us.

So our prayer is not, “God, help us try harder.”

Our prayer is, “Holy Spirit, move in us. Make this true of us.”

God’s care for us is not proven at the hospital bed, or at the doctor’s office. God’s care for us is proven at the cross.

And believe it or not, that’s better. Because the reality is that even those who are healed this side of heaven, will eventually get sick again. Even those who God rescues from death now, will eventually experience death later.

All healing, this side of heaven, is temporary.

But the healing every follower of Jesus will receive eventually is not temporary–it’s permanent.
