Wanted to let everyone know our kid's ministry at KIBC is BACK! We have a new night and new hours this year. We kick things off next Tuesday from 6:30pm-7:45pm. Had some feedback from a couple of parents with kids who have earlier bedtimes so we made it a little earlier. Really hope to see everyone back this year! We'll see y'all next week!

We finished out VBS 2025 last night! Thanks to everyone for bringing your kids out this year and allowing us to spend some time with them and teach them. It was a great week and I think fun was had by all.

Last night's message was about God taking care of not only the big things in our lives, but also the small things. We learned that you can always cast your cares and worries on Jesus no matter how big or small because, while they may be overwhelming to us, He's strong enough to handle them.

We've been collecting money each night this week to donate to our local organization, Project Emmanuel, which helps locals in need. Every year we have a friendly competition between the boys and girls, and whichever side raises the most gets something special. In the past it's been for one of us to eat a bug, or dye our hair... various crazy things. We did the ol' pie in the face this year, and I was the lucky recipient šŸ˜‚ In all we took in $500 this week! Thank you to everyone who donated šŸ™ That'll all go to help folks in need right here on the island.

In closing, thanks again y'all. It's been a lot of fun and we're sad to see it end but we'll be back at it next year... and in the meantime, if your kids enjoyed our VBS format at KIBC they'd also enjoy our children's program that we host during the school year. More information will be coming soon regarding that so keep an eye out. We'd love to have them back for that in a few months.

VBS 2025 night 4! Tonight's message was the most important of the week and that's that Jesus came to save the world, and that includes each of us.

Our scriptures tonight came from John 3:1-21, and 1 Corinthians 15:6. We read about how Nicodemus, a Pharisee and religious leader, comes to Jesus at night so as not to be seen with him. He, like other religious leaders in the region, has heard of Jesus' teachings and miracles and is seeking answers. We're introduced to the idea of salvation here when Jesus tells him ā€œUnless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.ā€ He goes on to explain, ā€œFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.ā€ Jesus clearly reveals His mission as the Savior: He came to offer eternal life to everyone who believes, including Nicodemus. We later learn that Nicodemus helps to prepare Jesus' body for burial after his crucifixion, demonstrating a transformation. He went from questioning Jesus in secret to boldly honoring Him in public. Nicodemus’ journey illustrates that Jesus’ salvation is personal... it includes ā€œme,ā€ just as it included Nicodemus, a man who started with doubts but ended up devoted to Christ. We also learned that Jesus is still alive. He was resurrected 3 days after his crucifixion! In doing so Jesus proves he is who he says he is, he conquers sin and death, and he offers faith, hope, and new life to everyone. The resurrection shows Jesus has the power to save us, just as He promised, making Him our living Savior!

Last night the children were given the opportunity to recite what we call the "sinner's prayer." In this prayer we acknowledge our sins and repent (turn away) from them... we then declare our belief in Jesus as savior. We ask for God's forgiveness and invite Jesus into our lives. We close by thanking God for His Love and grace.

For anyone reading this post that wants the assurance of spending eternity in God's Kingdom, the gift of salvation is very simple... Pray the following from your heart:

Dear Jesus, I know I’ve done wrong things, and I’m sorry for my sins. I believe You died on the cross for me and came back to life. Please forgive me and make me clean. I want You to be my Savior and Lord. Come into my heart and help me follow You. Thank You for loving me and saving me! Amen.

We do this with the understanding that this is our way to express faith and declaring our trust in Jesus... it isn't just about repeating words. Before we closed last night I asked those who recited that prayer to raise their hands if they felt comfortable doing so, and the vast majority of the room did. I'd encourage everyone to speak with their child about their decision, and If you or your child prayed this prayer or have questions about following Jesus, please reach out to myself, anyone on our VBS team, or pastor Jack. We’d love to walk with you on this journey!

Tonight is the final night! We look forward to seeing everyone one last time and closing this week out strong! Thanks to everyone who has brought their children out to participate this week. We've had a ton of fun with them. If they enjoyed this week please keep it on your minds, we essentially do a scaled down version of what we've done during VBS weekly during the school year for elementary aged kids. I'll have details regarding time and other details soon. We'd love to have them all school year. Thanks again and God bless.

Here's a look at night 3 of VBS 2025! Last night we learned that God isn't ok with sin, BUT he loves us even though we're sinners.

Our Bible story came from John 4:1-42 about Jesus's interaction with a Samaritan woman at a well. In the story, Jesus engages the woman and gently but directly addresses her sinful lifestyle. Despite her sin, Jesus doesn’t condemn or reject the woman. Instead, He initiates the conversation, offering her ā€œliving water," which represents eternal life through Him. This act of grace shows His love for her, even in her brokenness. Jesus knew everything about her—her mistakes, her pain, and her heart—yet He still loved her enough to offer her a new start. Just like the woman at the well, we all sin, but God loves us so much that He sent Jesus to forgive us and invite us into His family. The story shows that God doesn’t ignore our wrongs, but He doesn’t let them stop Him from loving us and offering us salvation.

Just a couple of nights left until VBS 2025 is over. We've had a great time with this group of kids this year and I hope we've planted some seeds that'll continue to grow when we're done here. Even though we're later in the week, if you'd like to bring your child out for the first time we'll continue to have open registration. (sorry y'all... I downloaded some photos from my college graduation a while back and one made it into the batch somehow šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø fixed it!)

We had a great night 2 of VBS 2025! We learned last night that even though God keeps the entire universe going, he still CARES about what happens to each of us on a personal level.

Our scriptures last night came out of Mark 4:1, and 35-41. Our Bible story was about how Jesus calmed the storm as he and the disciples were crossing the sea. As Jesus was taking a nap, a terrible storm moved in and tossed the boat around with waves crashing over gunwales. The boat was taking on water and the disciples were afraid. They woke Jesus and told him they were about to drown. Jesus asked why they were so afraid... had they such little faith? He then calmed the storm and sea by rebuking the wind and waves and commanding "Peace, be still!" God cares about what each of us are going through, and he has the power to calm the storms in our own lives if we only believe and we call on him.

Thanks to everyone once again for bringing out your children. We've had a blast the past couple of nights. Unfortunately we had a bit of rain last night which kept our younger group indoors during play time, but we watched an awesome episode of Superbook that went right along with the message and they loved it. There are 3 nights left! Registration will remain available each night for newcomers so it's not too late. We run from 6pm to 8.

We had an awesome first night of VBS 2025! Last night the kids learned that God sees them. Even though He's the creator of everything, He still sees us and wants to spend time with each one of us. We also learned what it means to magnify, or exalt God.

Our scriptures were out of John 1:1-3, and Mark 10:13-16. Our Bible story was about Jesus and the children. When some parents brought their children to see Jesus, his disciples scolded them for interrupting Jesus's important work and tried to send the children away... but Jesus rebuked them for their actions and told them to let the children come. In the middle of all He was doing, He made time to interact with and bless the children.

Thanks to everyone who brought your children out šŸ™ We have 4 nights left. Registration will take place each night so it's not too late if your child would like to come attend! We start at 6pm and finish at 8. If you need to register come out 5-10 minutes earlier and we'll get you squared away šŸ‘
