Father’s Day Worship Service

After arriving in Bethlehem with nothing but grief, uncertainty, and empty hands, Ruth sets out into the fields simply hoping to find enough grain to survive. What appears to be an ordinary day quickly becomes a powerful demonstration of God’s providence and grace. As Ruth enters a field “by chance,” she unknowingly steps into the very place where God has already prepared the next chapter of her redemption story.

At a crossroads between the familiar and the unknown, Ruth makes a decision that will change her life forever. Faced with the opportunity to return to the security of Moab, she instead chooses a path of faith, declaring to Naomi, “Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.” In this powerful passage, Ruth demonstrates what genuine faith looks like, a faith that leaves behind old identities, worldly securities, and uncertain futures in order to cling wholeheartedly to God.

The book of Ruth begins in a season of darkness, loss, and spiritual famine. In the days when the judges ruled, and everyone did what was right in their own eyes, a famine strikes Bethlehem, the “House of Bread.” Faced with hardship, Elimelech leads his family away from God’s covenant land into Moab, a place marked by compromise and spiritual opposition. What seemed like a practical decision soon turns tragic, leaving Naomi empty, broken, and without hope. Yet even amid the devastation, God is quietly at work, preparing a greater story of redemption. In this opening message of Ruth: The Road to Redemption, we discover how seasons of emptiness often become the very places where God begins His deepest work in our lives. This sermon will challenge us to trust God in the famine, resist the temptation to seek worldly solutions apart from Him, and remember that Jesus Christ, the true Bread of Life, meets us in our emptiness and leads us toward redemption, hope, and restoration.

Laurel Bluff Baptist Church invites your child to join us for VBS 2026, taking place June 7–11 from 5:30–8:00 PM each evening. Supper will be provided from 5:30–6:00 PM, followed by an exciting evening of VBS activities from 6:00–8:00 PM. This program is open to children ages 4 through those entering the 8th grade. Early registration is not necessary, but it does help with food and materials planning.

Please note: all participants must be fully potty-trained to attend. We look forward to a fun and meaningful week together!
